  • 2005 NFL Draft Recap: Our Report Card by MATTHEW HATFIELD
2005 NFL Draft Recap: Our Report Card BY MATTHEW HATFIELD Each year after the draft I like to hand out my report card on how each team did on draft weekend. As I’ve said before, drafting is an inexact science since you don’t know how many of these players are going to turn out. However, we like to breakdown which teams addressed their need areas and got football players who can make their team better. Also, which teams failed to do so, bringing their overall grade down compared to the other teams. Without furthermore, here are my team grades for the 2005 NFL Draft… Arizona Cardinals (6-10): By far, the best draft in the entire NFL for 2005. No, not a misprint, nor have I finally gone off the deep end! Dennis Green showed why once again why he’s not only one of the best talent evaluators in the National Football League, but possibly the very best. As we correctly projected ,Green took Miami (FL) corner Antrel Rolle (121Tack. 3Int. last two seasons). An exceptional corner blitzer and wonderful in run support, Rolle is a guy teams throw away from and Arizona also has the luxury of using him at free safety if need be. I really love their second round pick, JUCO transfer J.J. Arrington of Cal, a 5-8 tailback that ran for over 2000 yards last season. Compact runner with the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and get good yards per carry (7.0YPC last season). Then you get to the state of Virginia where the Cardinals took Hokies corner Eric Green, UVA OLB Darryl Blackstock, and 6-4 329 pound Cavs guard Elton Brown.

  • NFL Draft Breakdown --- One Week Before the Draft by MATTHEW HATFIELD --- Saturday, April 16Th, 2005
2005 NFL Draft Breakdown --- One Week Before the Draft BY MATTHEW HATFIELD --- Saturday, April 16th, 2005 Kansas State RB Darren Sproles draws comparisons to Barry Sanders, but will he be able to counter lack of size with speed at the next level? Arizona Cardinals 1. #8 RB Cedric Benson - Texas 2. #44 CB Brandon Browner - Oregon St. 3. #75 QB Adrian McPherson - Florida St. 3. #95 OG/OT Evan Mathis - Alabama 4. #111 DT Atiyyah Ellsion - Missouri 5. #168 CB Ellis Hobbs - Iowa St. 7. #226 TE Billy Bajema - Oklahoma St. Arizona Cardinals (6-10): What the Arizona Cardinals decide to do with their first round pick - 8th overall - all comes down to whether or not they can pull off a deal for RB Travis Henry. It’s very conceivable that one of the top two corners - Antrel Rolle and Pac-Jones - will be available as Tennessee seems like the only team in the top seven potentially after a defensive back. That sets up well for them as does the fact there’s also an increasing chance one of the three highest rated running backs should slide to them or beyond. Because the Henry deal appears off right now, my prediction is Dennis Green selects Cedric Benson. Like last year, look for Green and the crew to really do some damage in the second, third and fourth rounds of this draft with some players that slip through on draft boards. Atlanta Falcons 1. #27 S Brodney Pool - Oklahoma 2. #59 OG Elton Brown - Virginia 3. #90 WR Vincent Jackson - No.

  • Rams Possess Seven Picks in 2020 Nfl Draft
RAMS POSSESS SEVEN PICKS IN 2020 NFL DRAFT Los Angeles owns seven picks in 2020 draft, including three in the top-100 First Round Trades Under Snead Rams, you’re on the clock! The 2020 NFL Draft marks the seventh time the Snead administration executed a trade in or out of the first round. Here is a look back at the previous first-round moves since Snead took over as the Rams General Manager in 2012. 2012 NFL Draft The Rams held the No. 2 overall selection and traded it to the Washington Redskins. In that trade, the Rams acquired Washington’s sixth and 39th overall selections in 2012, as well as their first round picks in 2013 (DT Michael Brockers via Dallas) and 2014 (T Greg Robinson). 2013 NFL Draft On the first day of the draft, the Rams executed two trades in the first round. The Rams held the No. 16 overall selection and traded up to No. 8 with the Buffalo Bills to select WR Tavon Austin, and picked up the Bills’ 71st selection. In exchange, the Bills received the Rams No. 16, 46, 78 Los Angeles Rams 2019 NFL Draft class at SoFi Stadium and 222 selections.
