The papers relating to the Waynes begin with the Richard Wayne and Richard Wayne, Jr. papers, 1756-1817. These consist of a sales book, papers of estates for which Richard Wayne the elder was the administrator or executor, and miscellaneous papers. Included in the Richard Wayne papers are

- Page 4 - Finding Aid to the J. Randolph Anderson Collection on the Wayne, Stites, and Anderson Family ... documents concerning the Georgia Company, one of the Yazoo companies. The personal papers of R.M. Stites, 1763-1820, consist of family correspondence, papers pertaining to real estate interests, personal accounts, a few plantation (Oryza) accounts, slave sales, letter books, account books, ledger, legal papers, and documents relating to societies and social clubs. Legal cases of R.M. Stites, J.M. Wayne, and other Savannah lawyers consist of hundreds of legal cases, arranged alphabetically by name of either the plaintiff or the defendant. Admiralty cases are listed at the end. The Anderson family papers include Anderson family correspondence, 1814-1957, which consists of letters between friends and family. The E.C. Anderson, Jr. papers, 1759-1887, consist of E.C.A., Jr.'s business, Civil War, and estate papers. The Jefferson Randolph Anderson papers, 1893-1960, include original speeches and writing by J.R.A., business papers, legal papers, political papers, and papers relating to the Episcopal Church. Memorabilia consists of articles and clippings pertaining to J.R.A., the Anderson family, the Randolph family, and scrapbooks devoted to J.R.A.'s political career. The collection also contains oversize items that relate mostly to the Anderson family. The E.C. Randolph Anderson memorabilia (folio) consist of maps and surveys of Savannah and diplomas awarded to J.R.A. The last items are eight newspapers in loose folio folders, most of which date from 1861-1862. Boxes 8-18 contain the legal cases of R.M. Stites, J.M. Wayne, and other Savannah attorneys. These legal cases are in alphabetical order. The greatest portion of them are Stites' cases. In many instances it was not possible to determine the attorney; only those names that are specified on the documents are listed, the names following the alphabetical listings. Unless otherwise specified, cases after January 15, 1813, the date of Stites' death, are attributed to Wayne. Among the other attorneys are Jeremiah Cuyler, William Davies, Charles Harris, Venobles Bond, George Woodruff, John Kell, and J.M. Berrien. Persons or companies involved in suits are listed by name of plaintiff or defendant. Some of the folders contain information on interesting facets of Savannah's history, such as George Faries for building the first Baptist Church; Joseph Hill for the contract for building a tall bridge over the Savannah River. At the end of each letter of the alphabet there is a folder in which there is only one or more papers relating to a case. Materials in the miscellaneous folders may relate to the listed cases. Admiralty cases are listed separately.
