Jackson School of the Arts, Fall/ Winter 2014 Art Nook

In this class, we will be creating artwork based on favorite picture books. Each time we meet, we will read a different book. Your child will get to know Caldecott medal artists and other beloved illustrators, and learn the “secrets” of how they made their pictures. ☺

At the end of the class sessions (in December), we will have an art show. (More on this as the time gets closer.) Students usually want to take things home the day they make things, but if they are willing to leave them for the show, that’s great. You can also return art a few weeks before the show.

Art in the City: Drawing Architecture

In this class we learn how to draw all the things that make cities interesting places to be! From architecture to perspective, from colors to textures, we’ve got it covered. Cities are more than buildings, and we will look at all the things that make them great. We’ll also go beyond drawing to explore collage, sculpture & printmaking.

At the end of the class sessions (in December), we will have an art show. (More on this as the time gets closer.) Students usually want to take things home the day they make things, but if they are willing to leave them for the show, that’s great. You can also return art a few weeks before the show.

Project Paint This class focuses on experimenting with paint and learning and practicing painting techniques.
