VE Day Anniversary Air Show, 23 and 24 May 2015 The VE Day Anniversary Air Show tells the story of how the Second World War was won in the air. Flying displays are accompanied by music, wartime speeches and recordings of veterans’ memories, bringing to life the events of 70 years ago. This played a key part in eventual victory, but at the cost of many lives. Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress Sally B B-17 Preservation With the Armies and the Navies Aircraft altered the nature of the war at sea and changed the way that land battles were fought. They played a key role in the Battle of the Atlantic, the success of D-Day and many more crucial campaigns. Japan continued to fight in the Pacific and many more lives were lost before finally the Allies could celebrate peace with Victory in Japan day.
