Laccariopsis is morphologically close to these genera but distinguished by a unique combination of features: a Laccaria-like habit (distant, thick, subdecurrent lamellae), viscid pileus and upper stipe, glabrous stipe with a long pseudorhiza connecting with Ammophila and Juniperus roots and incorporating plant debris and sand particles, pileipellis consisting of a loose ixohymeniderm with slender pileocystidia, large and thin- to thick-walled spores and basidia, thin- to slightly thick-walled hymenial cystidia and caulocystidia, and monomitic stipe tissue. Phylogenetic analyses based on a combined ITS-LSU sequence dataset place Laccariopsis close to Gloiocephala and Rhizomarasmius. Key words — Agaricomycetes, Physalacriaceae, /gloiocephala clade, phylogeny, taxonomy Introduction Hydropus mediterraneus was originally described by Pacioni & Lalli (1985) based on collections from Mediterranean dune ecosystems in Central Italy, Sardinia, and Tunisia. Previous collections were misidentified as Laccaria maritima (Theodor.) Singer ex Huhtinen (Dal Savio 1984) due to their laccarioid habit. The generic attribution to Hydropus Kühner ex Singer by Pacioni & Lalli (1985) was due mainly to the presence of reddish watery droplets on young lamellae and sarcodimitic tissue in the stipe (Corner 1966, Singer 1982).

Since their preparation is a difficult task for each author or team of authors (who have to possess really great knowledge to reliably elaborate characteristics of fungi of various groups), such work is extraordinarily time-consuming and is not rewarded with an impact factor, hardly anybody is currently willing to commence such work and – what is more important – to complete it in the form of a useful publication. Even if somebody does, the author usually focuses on mycobiota of a particu- lar region and often prefers to prepare such books for the mycological community in his country. From the Czech Republic and Slovakia we can mention Přehled hub střední Evropy (Overview of Central European Fungi, Holec et al. 2012) with colour drawings, and Ottova encyklopedie hub (Otto’s Encyclopaedia of Fungi, Hagara 2014) with photographs, but such publications written in lo- cal languages are obviously useless for other mycologists. Detailed monographs exist for particular genera or fungal groups (series like Fungi Europaei, Poroid Fungi of Europe, etc.), and also the monumental four-volume Pilzkompendium by Erhard Ludwig, covering a large proportion of European agaricoid fungi, must be mentioned, but a compre- hensive overview for the whole of Europe has been lacking.

Cibaomyces is morphologically characterized by the combination of the following characters: basidioma small to medium-sized, collybioid to tricholomatoid; pileus viscid; hymenophore sinuate to subdecurrent, relatively distant, with brown lamellar edge; stipe sticky and densely covered with felted squamules; basidiospores thin-walled, ornamented with finger-like projections; cystidia nearly cylindrical, thin-walled, often heavily incrusted. Molecular phylogenetic analyses using DNA nucleotide sequences of the internal transcribed spacer region and the large subunit nuclear ribosomal RNA loci indicated that Cibaomyces was related to Gloiocephala, Laccariopsis and Rhizomarasmius. A description, line drawings, phylogenetic placement and comparison with allied taxa are presented. Mycosphere 8(9), 1317–1391, Doi 10.5943/mycosphere/8/9/5 Abstract Thirty-one species of gymnopoid fungi are reported from the African island nation, Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe. Ten represent new species (Arrhenia cystidiata, Callistosporium elegans, Campanella burkei, Gymnopus billbowesii, G. hirtelloides, G. irresolutus, G. mustachius, G. ocellus, G. pleurocystidiatus, G. rodhallii), four are new nomenclatural combinations (G. cervinus, G. hirtellus, G. ugandensis, Tricholomopsis aurea), and all 21 previously described species represent new distribution records. Comprehensive descriptions, line drawings, colour photographs, comparisons with allied taxa, a dichotomous key to aid identification, and a phylogenetic analysis of members of the Omphalotaceae based on ITS rDNA sequence data are provided. Key words – Gymnopus – Marasmiellus – fungal diversity – mushrooms – Gulf of Guinea Introduction In April 2006 (two weeks) and April 2008 (three weeks), expeditions led by scientists from the California Academy of Sciences and joined by mycologists from San Francisco State University visited the West African islands of São Tomé and Príncipe to document the diversity of plants, amphibians, marine invertebrates and macrofungi.
