Macho is from Cashel, Co. Tipperary and in 1987 started his career working at Ballysheehan Stud, owned by Philip Myerscough. Here he gained experience working with the stallion Fairy King, mares, foals and yearling sales preparation. He spent 5 years at Ballysheehan before moving to Derrinstown Stud in 1992.
