2006 October Newsletter VERSION 3.Pub Quarterly Newsletter November 2006 Bahri’s graceful filly Elnadim stamps his mark with Wi Dud Wi Dud (2yo c) registered a well deserved win Wi Dud York derrinstown in the Gr.2 Flying Childers Stakes after near derrinstown misses at the post in both the Gr.3 Betfair Mole- comb and Gr.2 Scottish Equitable Gimcrack Stakes. Wi Dud then Acts of Grace Chantilly went on to come second in the Gr.1 Shadwell Middle Park Stakes. Acts of Grace (3yo f) put Bahri in the spotlight this digestdigest Another one of Elnadim’s successful 2yo winners this season, Caldra season when winning the Gr.3 Princess Royal Stakes at won the Gr.3 Autumn Stakes effortlessly by 5 lengths. Profile Michael Connors Intikhab’s red evie Michael Connors, otherwise known as Scores 7 in a row ‘Macho’, has been working at Derrinstown Stud for nearly 15 years. Macho is from Cashel, Co. Tipperary and in 1987 started his career working at Ballysheehan Stud, owned by Philip Myerscough. Here he gained experience working with the stallion Fairy King, mares, foals and yearling sales preparation. He spent 5 years at Ballysheehan before moving to Derrinstown Stud in 1992. Red Evie Leopardstown At Derrinstown Macho started off in charge of the ‘16 Yard’ in the Public Stud Red Evie (rated 124 - 09.2006) gave Intikhab another for one season which housed older mares and foals. That autumn he went to Gr.1 success when winning the Gr.1 Matron Stakes at New Zealand for 8 months to broaden his experience. He worked in Pencarrow Leopardstown. This was the 3yo filly’s seventh Stud in Cambridge. Here he carried out general stud work and prepared yearlings victory which also included the Gr.3 Oak Tree Stakes for the sales. From Pencarrow Stud, he brought 5 yearlings to the William Inglis Sales in Australia. and LR Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot.     Quarterly Newsletter March 2008 Derrinstown Derby & Guineas Trial 11th May Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Series 2008 The Derrinstown Derby and Guineas Trials will again be held a Leopardstown Racecourse on the 11th May 2008. This derrinstownderrinstown highly enjoyable day features the G2 Derby Trial and G3 Guineas Trials both proudly sponsored by Derrinstown. The trials give us an indication of the possible hopefuls for the Epsom/Irish Derbys and also the Guineas. Last years Derby Trial was won by ARCHIPENKO, who despite not running up to expectations in 2007, digest recently won the G2 Al Fahidi Fort at the 2008 Dubai Carnival. The Guineas Trial was won by ALEXANDER TANGO digest who went on to win the G1 Garden City Stakes in the US. Her dam, House In Woods was a recent sales topper at Tat- tersalls February sale and sold for £450,000gns. ALHAARTH BAHRI ELNADIM INTIKHAB MARJU The Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Series 2008 kicks off in April. Last year AMY PARSONS was crowned champion of the series, with Shane Foley and Paul Townend taking second and third spot respectively. Amy received a ladies watch and prize bonds to the value of €2000. The winning trainer, Pat Morris, received his cheque for €1500 with Joanna Morgan and Adrian McGuiness taking the runner up spots. We look forward to seeing Amy’s DOUBLE ECLIPSE FOR career progress in 2008 and wait with anticipation to see who will be crowned the winning apprentice in 2008. This year’s CXHKIR will welcome its largest ever number of global racing stars to Sha Tin on Sunday, 14 December. Four G1 races, worth a combined HK$62m (approx.
