May 25 PNC Field L, 5-3 May 26 PNC Field Susp. 4th COMEBACK KIDS: The RailRiders have erased multi-run deficits two times en route to victory during the current series with the Bisons. On May 27 PNC Field - Res. Sus. W, 4-2 Tuesday, they trailed 5-0 and eventually won 7-5, with a two-run single from Derek Dietrich in the top of the eighth putting SWB ahead for good. Then on Saturday, the RailRiders erased an early 4-0 advantage to win 6-4 in 10 innings. Andrew Velazquez put the RailRiders PNC Field - Game 2 W, 3-2 on top in the 10th inning when he scampered home on a wild pitch. Overall, the RailRiders have 10 come-from-behind wins this season. May 28 PNC Field Postponed May 29 PNC Field W, 3-2 ON A SILVER TREY: RailRiders outfielder Trey Amburgey has been among the best hitters in all of minor league baseball this season, May 30 PNC Field Postponed and entering play Sunday afternoon, has at least one hit in all 17 games he has played. That stands as the longest active hitting streak in June 8 Trenton Thunder Ballpark W, 7-5 Triple-A East, and is the the longest in the league this season. Dating back to the end of the 2019 season, Amburgey has hit in 19 consecutive June 9 Trenton Thunder Ballpark Postponed games and has at least one hit in 24 of his last 25 contests, and has reached base safely in all of those games. Trenton Thunder Ballpark - G2 L, 10-0 June 11 Trenton Thunder Ballpark L, 4-2 OTHER STREAKS OF NOTE: In addition to Trey Amburgey’s impressive run, the RailRiders offense features two other players with double- June 12 Trenton Thunder Ballpark W, 6-4 (10) digit on-base streaks. OutfielderGreg Allen is riding a season-long 13-game on-base streak into play on Sunday afternoon, and infielder June 13 Trenton Thunder Ballpark 1:00 p.m. Hoy Park has reached base safely in 12 consecutive games. Allen has also played in two other games this season in which he did not Aug 31 PNC Field 5:05 p.m. record an official plate appearance, therefore not jeopardizing his streak and spent time on the injured list in the middle of his streak. PNC Field Game 2 Sept 1 PNC Field 7:05 p.m. A NIGHT OF FIRSTS: Thursday night’s doubleheader with Buffalo will be the first true doubleheader of the season for the Scranton/Wilkes- Barre RailRiders. Previously they played a quasi-doubleheader on May 27 against Buffalo at PNC Field, resuming a suspended game from Sept 2 PNC Field 7:05 p.m. the night before then playing the regularly-scheduled contest. In 2019 the RailRiders played 11 doubleheaders, going 14-8 overall in those Sept 3 PNC Field 7:05 p.m. skirmishes. SWB played three twin-bills with Buffalo alone in 2019, splitting one at Sahlen Field on June 3 and one at PNC Field on June 27, Sept 4 PNC Field 5:05 p.m. and notching a sweep of one at Sahlen Field on June 5 as well. Because of the two doubleheaders in three days, the RailRiders and Bisons PNC Field Game 2 played each other six times from June 3-6. Game 2 of Thursday’s twin bill also marked the first time that the RailRiders have been shut out Sept 5 PNC Field 1:05 p.m. this season, and the first time that a RailRider has been ejected from a game, with ManagerDoug Davis, Mike Ford, and Socrates Brito all being run from the game in the top of the third. 2019 results: SWB RailRiders, 13-8 BLANKED: When the RailRiders dropped Game 2 of Thursday’s doubleheader to the Buffalo Bisons at Trenton Thunder Ballpark 10-0, it all-time series: RailRiders Lead 208-173 marked the first time this season that the RailRiders failed to score a run in a game. Not only was it the first time that the RailRiders have been shut out this season, but it was the first time that SWB had been shut out in a game since June 27, 2019, when ironically the Buffalo Bisons beat the RailRiders 1-0 in Game 2 of a doubleheader at PNC Field. In between, the RailRiders had gone 93 straight games without railriders at a glance being shut out. This season SWB has only scored fewer than two runs in a game on one other occasion, a 3-1 loss at Rochester on May 23. THIS ROAD TRIP FEELS...FAMILIAR: With the Buffalo Bisons having to play their entire home schedule this season at Trenton Thunder 2021 regular season: 22-11 Ballpark, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders will play this series in a familiar setting for many players.
