In particular, Pannon Management Review broadens the existing links between Hungarian scholars and practitioners, on the one hand, and the wider international academic and business communities, on the other – the Journal acts as an overall Central and Eastern European catalyst for the dissemination of international thinking, both scholarly and managerial. After the long 2020 year of pandemic we are on the way of rebuilding. The live relationship between the scientific communities, the international links and the former, free mobility, these all have to be rebuilt. Yes, although communication between the scientific teams has not been suspend- ed during the last months, live exchange of ideas, stimulating discussions were unfortunately paralized. It is time to return back to our traditional scientific life, not neglecting, of course, the learnings of the period of pandemic. In this double issue an international research project, called STRANGER, has given a chance to present the results to the Reader. Not surprisingly the focus of the project is inter- nationalization in the university sphere. An evergreen theme in the regional or even glob- al cooperations of the educational institutions. The topic is multifaceted with special accent on management of international relations, and mobility, international competitiveness and cross-cultural aspects. Strengthening international cooperation is an essential condition for a competitive higher education. There is a close relationship between competitiveness of a country’s economy and its higher education. The article Internationalization in higher education and its role in the mobility of foreign university students written by Anita Veres and Ildikó Virág-Neumann examines in- ternational student flows, and also scholarship opportunities that could enhance the flow. The next article of Dorota Kwiatkowska-Ciotucha, Urszula Załuska and Cyprian Kozyra discusses also mobility but from the viewpoint of leverages and braking forces. Under the title of Inter- national mobility – opportunities and problems the authors develop universal solutions which would make it possible to properly organise activities in terms of formal preparation of uni- versities for receiving foreign students. The analyses revealed both the existence of numerous issues connected with the broadly understood internationalisation of universities, as well as the diversification of the perception of the situation. Similarly the third, fourth and fifth papers’ research problem is mobility, namely students’ experiences during their mobility program.     Hungarian Higher Education 2010/2011 Hungarian Rectors’ Conference Dear Reader, Although I know I should be modest, I take pride presenting this booklet to you. I am proud to submit to you a short description of the Hungarian higher Bevezető education which can look back to a centuries-old Introduction history, but at the same time I am aware that this thin booklet can only give you a very sketchy account of the system of Hungarian universities and colleges. On the following pages you will find not only the 69 higher education institutions (HEIs) located in Hungary but the names of 4 more Hungarian HEIs beyond our frontiers. The list gives you the picture of a diversified system of HEIs: it consists of state-owned universities and colleges, HEIs owned by religious denominations, foundations or even private organisations. The history of each HEI might also be of interest, some of them are several centuries old, and some others are new. Like in most other countries, in Hungary, too there are a few small HEIs that meet highly specific needs and large universities and colleges with thousands of students and hundreds of staff. Each HEI has its own special important function in the complex system of the Hungarian higher education. Another characteristic that all HEIs share in common is that they have a double function; on the one hand they are in charge of training students in highly special fields, on the other hand they are the centres of knowledge and culture, and the workshops of research. Besides preserving national traditions, Hungarian HEIs are part of the European system of higher education, and develop and maintain relations with a large number of HEIs all over the world.

On the territory of Hungary, in the course of history, there have always lived representatives of other cultures and speakers of other languages. Nevertheless, in terms of the ability of speaking more than one language, within the European Union, Hungary is left behind, according to the latest Eurobarometer survey. In this paper we will highlight some of the facts and problems undermining real multilingualism in Hungary. The scientific program of the conference consisted of classical and interdisciplinary areas of information technology including, e.g., software technology, intelligent systems, image processing, data analysis, process modeling and optimization, medical and industrial applications. After a two-round peer review process, 36 papers of 82 co-authors from 16 academic institutes in 6 countries were accepted for oral presentation at the conference, out of which 29 are included in this proceedings as full papers.
