His musi cal career has taken him to every part otd1e WQrld performing recitals in all the major cities of Europe, Africa, Asia, North and 'South: America. He has appeared With orchestras under the direction of such eminent concltimorS;aS Pierre Boulez, Michael Gielen, Bruno Madema, Jean Martinon and Hermann ~n, among others. '''~.\1Jt~1 Claude Helffer is associated both wi~~ music of a number of his own contempo raries, such as Berio, Boulez, StockhaUlettlUd Xenakis, and with composers of the younger generation, including Amy, Leoo~Manoury, Sinopoli, etc. Among the works composed specifically for him are includod.,.~lICerto by Boucourechliev (1975), Stances by BetSy Jolas (1978), Concerto 1 by LOUi&i~de Pab10 (198~ and Erikthon by Xenakis (1974). ~lffer is a widely recoo:led artist and has won numerous industry awards includ ing SACEM's Grand Prix du Disc for his interpretations of contemporary French repertoire. Since 1970 Helffer has balanced perfonning with teaching.
