Our collection of paper materials includes continuities, scripts, tie-in-books, scrapbooks, press releases, newsreel summaries, publicity notebooks, press books, lobby cards, theater programs, production notes, and much more. These items have been acquired through copyright deposit, purchased, or gifted to the division. How to Use this Inventory The inventory is organized by box number with each letter representing a specific box type. The majority of the boxes listed include content information. Please note that over the years, the content of the boxes has been described in different ways and are not consistent. The “card” column used to refer to a set of card catalogs that documented our holdings of particular paper materials: press book, posters, continuity, reviews, and other. The majority of this information has been entered into our Merged Audiovisual Information System (MAVIS) database. The biennial Festival of Preservation allows us to show pristine examples of our recent work as they were meant to be seen-by appreciative audiences on the big screen. This year's Festival is dedicated to Preservation Officer Robert Gitt-the man who since 1977 has put the Archive on the international map for excellence in film preservation and restoration. In 2005, he officially retired from University service. but will continue to work part-time. contributing his wealth of expertise to preservation and restoration projects for many years to come. A special evening on Saturday, July 29. hosted by film critic and historian Leonard Maltin. will celebrate Bob's singular career. This year is also notable because it is the last time the Festival will be presented in the James Bridges Theater. In early 2007, with construction funding from Mrs. Audrey Wilder. the Archive will move into a new home at the state-of-the-art Billy Wilder Theater at the Hammer Museum in Westwood, creating an incomparable center to celebrate the legacy of motion pictures. The 13th Festival of Preservation presents a wide selection of fascinating motion pictures. shorts, television and newsreels. Film directors range from Elia Kazan.     UCLA FESTIVAL of PRESERVATION 2019 FROM THE DIRECTOR This year for the first time, we decided to organize our UCLA Festival of Preservation We begin Friday morning with a delightful early 1930s musical comedy, My Lips as a weekend event, instead of one spread out over a whole month, as in previous Betray (John G. He is the author of Hoosiers in Hollywood (published by the Indiana Historical Society in 2006), Sitting Pretty: The Life and Times of Clifton Webb (University Press of Mississippi, 2011), and Indianapolis Television (Arcadia Publishing, 2012). He was the host of a series called When Movies Were Movies on WISH-TV in Indianapolis from 1971–1981, and served as program manager for the station for twenty years.

    Public Domain Films 1 Public Domain Movies Public domain films may be re-sold on DVD, shown on TV, in theaters, streamed on the Internet, used for stock footage and many other purposes -- all without paying royalties since the copyrights have long expired.
