This garden boasts some 200,000 irises across 300 different varieties. The Lake Kitagata Iris Festival is held here from early to mid June each year.

The road from JR Awaraonsen Station to the hot spring town of Awara Onsen features stretch roughly 150 meters long lined with American sweetgum trees. Enjoy the changing colors with the seasons, with the fresh greenery of spring and the brilliant red of autumn.

In order to make their way to what was once the holy city where Yoshizaki Gobo Temple was located, the villagers cleared this pass through the mountains by hand, over the course of just three months.
