(continued from page 2) And since Christ who was rich became poor so that we might be rich in His grace—of which generous giving is part—so we also who are rich in His grace can excel in pressing His grace into service toward the gra- cious work of the church.

Pay attention to what you give to the church so that you may excel at it. And if you find that your heart has grown cold or indifferent toward it, immerse yourself in God’s Word. Read it at home. Attend Bible Class. Hear and listen to it preached in the Divine Service. Be reminded of what Christ has done for you in His incarnation, suffering, and death. For this will strengthen your faith and knowledge. And where that excels, so will the grace of giving excel also.

FEBRUARY Lamp 9 counseling CORNER upcoming Settling into the winter, I am reminded of its purpose. To give the trees EVENTS and everything that blooms a literal rest. Sometimes, as we see with things planted in the ground…things need to die off, rest, in order to come fully alive in the Spring. As you ponder your own life and situation, what things need to “die off February 14 or rest” in your life? You all know Einstein’s definition of insanity right? “In- Valentine’s Day sanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.” I February 17 think we all fall into traps of “insanity” and then we get frustrated with God, Ash Wednesday others and ourselves when things do not manifest change for the better. Ash Wednesday Worship My challenge for us all during this Valentines month is to just change ONE Services 7am, 1 & 7pm behavior and replace it with another more positive one. At the end of this February 23 month of February, evaluate if this different behavior in the month yielded a Women’s Book Group change for the better. Remember John Lennon’s Christmas song that I often refer to: “And so this is Christmas, and what have we done? Another year February 24 over and a new one just begun.” Lenten Worship Services If we change just one negative behavior (ask God to show you. He will!) 1 & 7pm and it yields a positive result, it will be something you “have done” in this March 3, 10, 17 & 24 New Year. If you are unable to think of anything, maybe once a week you Lenten Worship Services drop off to a Redeemer shut-in a basket of goodies or food, a book, flowers, 1 & 7pm encouraging note, a Portals of Prayer large print....you get the point.
