Cessation of telegram service

The Telecommunications Authority of the Faroe Islands, Tórshavn, announces that Faroes Telecom no longer provides the international telegram service to and from the Faroe Islands since 1 February 2004. The domestic telegram service will be continued.

Furthermore, owing to the closure of the international telegram service in the Faroe Islands, the telegram destination indicator “FA”, allocated to the Faroe Islands and the office codes used in the telegram retransmission system, have been deleted on 1st February 2004, at 0000 hours UTC.

The List of Telegram Destination Indicators, published in accordance with ITU-T Recommendation F.32, will be updated accordingly*.
