At the outset, I would like to highlight the fact that a healthy nation could only be built by the healthy individuals and the animals and the environment they live in. I strongly believe and affirm that the public health could only be attained by way of collaborative and co-operative works shouldered by Medical as well as Veterinary fraternity by bringing synergy among allied line departments and stakeholders which formulates the basis for 'One Health' concept.

As a policy matter, Government of Kerala permits private agencies to start un-aided Arts and Science/Training colleges in the state subject to the recommendation of the Universities concerned..^ ' 2. Note related to this department. 3. Government Arts and Science colleges are provided state budget allocations for running institutions under the plan/Non-plan Schemes. Aided private colleges are supported by the state government by paying salary and other service benefits including pension etc. to all categories of teaching and non-teaching staff. Apart from that all government private aided and un-aided colleges are getting financial assistance from the UGC for various schemes approved by them. 4. A negligible no. of students are only noted as Dropouts in the higher Education level. 5. Private aided and un aided institutions are provided a major role in the filed of higher education in the state especially in rural areas. 6. Not applicable to collegiate Education Department. 7. It had first been affiliated to the University of Kerala. When Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam was established in 1983, the college came under the jurisdiction of this university. The Al-Ameen Educational Trust has the mission of establishing Centre’s of Educational Excellence with modern facilities. The Trust lays stress on the imparting of education with a firm moral base, with the objective that students after completing their education here may develop a strong sense of duty and service to society. The year 1991 was a landmark in the history of the College. It was during this year the College was elevated to the status of a first grade College with the introduction of B.Com Degree Course. This institution has acquired the status of a celebrated first grade college with post - graduate courses and many graduate courses catering to the needs of students to achieve vocational proficiency.     Sustainable Livelihood Community Level Assessment of Wayanad, Kerala A thesis submitted by ALLISON PLATT in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in Urban Environmental Policy and Planning TUFTS UNIVERSITY May 2016 Adviser: Ann Rappaport Reader: Julian Agyeman ABSTRACT This needs and capacity building assessment examined environmental, economic, and social conditions at a community level in Wayanad, Kerala, India, to document community- identified challenges, existing assets, as well as unmet needs. Sustainable livelihood security at the household level was assessed using purposeful sampling of select vulnerable groups prioritizing women, tribals and agricultural workers through surveys and focus groups. Interviews with seven local non-profit leaders further document existing services and programs within the community. Wayanad faces challenges including land use change, a lack of waste management, gender inequality, and unfavorable market conditions, particularly for farmers. The district has an existing network of capable organizations dedicated to sustainable living that are well connected to government planning and funding. Demand for increased services and programs can expand on the existing capacity within the community to address Wayanad’s challenges.
