There will be renewed energy and Ocommitment to meet new challenges, move the Town forward and provide for the health and well being of current and future residents. East Windsor will be well positioned to do this as the Town remains financially strong. We have an excellent credit rating (Aa2) and we are well positioned to endure the finan- cial problems facing the State of Connecticut. Our central location between Hartford and Springfield is drawing interest from potential investors to our commercial and business corridors. In the next few years East Windsor will see a double rail come to Windsor Locks, the completion of Water Mill Landing, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers new building and other commercial and residential construction along with the possible building of the Tribal Winds Casino. This growth will all contribute to our Grand List.

Best known is probably the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) that did many construction projects at state and federal parks. The Federal Writers Projects was another program that between 1935 and 1943 produced the American Guide Series of books covering the 48 states at the time and employed over 6,000 writers. The format was uniform, comprising essays on the state's history and culture, descriptions of its major cities, automobile tours of important attractions, and a portfolio of photographs. “Connecticut: A Guide To Its Roads, Lore, and People” was published in 1938 and sponsored by Governor Wilbur L. Cross. The “Nutmeg State” guide included historical facts and figures about the history of Connecticut, contained photographs of picturesque churches and historic homes and provided a comprehensive index of old and historic houses.

The School Day Concerts are central to our partnerships with schools in New York City and beyond. The New York Philharmonic is working with the New York City Department of Education to restore music education in the City’s schools. The pioneering School Partnership Program joins Philharmonic teaching artists with classroom teachers and music teachers in full-year residencies. Thousands of students are taking the three-year curriculum, gaining skills in playing, singing, listening, even composition. The Philharmonic also takes part in extensive teacher training workshops.     Tolland County 4-H Fair The 77th Annual Tolland County 4-H Fair Proudly Dedicates the 2019 Fair Premium Book to: Cheryl Saegaert On behalf of Tolland County 4-H, fairboard dedicates the 77th annual Tolland County 4-H fair book to Cheryl Saegaert. On February 12, 2019, Tolland County 4-H lost one of their biggest advocates. Cheryl started with 4-H in Tolland County about 35 years ago, or as she would say, “too long ago.” Cheryl served for many years not only as a 4-H club leader for the ‘Goats, etc.’ club, but also as a fairboard advisor. Her 4-H experience began with her two biological children, however she considered all of her 4-Hers her own. Her home was always open to any and all 4-Hers and animals. She was a lover of all animals. While her club focus was on dairy goats, her personal farm was fairly diverse, including dogs, chickens, ducks, llamas, sheep, rabbits, domestic birds, and of course, dairy goats. Cheryl was the type of individual that would go above and beyond for anyone who may, or may not, have asked. She was the proudest of her 4-H kids and would help them to accomplish anything that they wanted to. Her teaching went far beyond 4-H and animals, extending to life, independence and teamwork along with acceptance and patience. But the most important thing she taught was responsibility. Responsibility for your own actions, for your animals, and for your 4-H club. Cheryl pushed her kids to set goals, challenge themselves in all aspects of their life, and step out of their comfort zone.
