3.30 EVENING PRAYER (SAID)

The Cathedral Choir will be singing Evensong at St Richard’s, Heathfield at 4.00pm Notices

Thank you from Anthony: I am so grateful for the warm ‘send-off’ Clare and I received last Sunday. It has been a real privilege to be part of the life and work of the Cathedral these past eleven years, so we leave full of gratitude. The generous gift will be really helpful as we prepare to move house, and part of it will go on a new bike, so that I can get to know my new cathedral city on two wheels rather than four! Finally, we’re delighted that so many of you have booked a place on a Friends’ coach in order to attend my Installation on Saturday 16th March at 4pm – at which the Chichester choir will sing alongside their Portsmouth colleagues. Those coming on a coach will be given a ticket for the service, and I have also left some tickets at both the Vergers’ office in the Cathedral, and at Cathedral reception in the Cloisters, for anyone who prefers to come under their own steam. Would you like to attend Anthony’s installation (16th March)? There are now very few places left on the second coach. We will have to leave from Chichester Cathedral prompt at 2.30pm (the coaches are not allowed to wait in West Street) and will have to leave 6.20pm prompt from Portsmouth Cathedral after the Reception. A round trip ticket costs £10. For details and tickets visit www.chichestercathedral.org.uk/get-involved/chichester-cathedral-friends or purchase directly from the Cathedral shop. (Marianne Lecompte) James Speller: Congratulations to James who has moved to a new field of work with Southern Railways, and as well as wishing him well for the future we thank him for all his work as a verger. The Cathedral Roll is in the process of being renewed. Being a member of the Cathedral Roll is one of the ways in which regular worshippers at the Cathedral can be identified as being committed to the Cathedral and gives the opportunity to be involved in electing and being a candidate for the Cathedral Community Committee or Deanery Synod. It is also very important as one of the ways in which the Cathedral can keep in touch with you if you give your permission. Please note that if you are on the Roll already you will need to reapply for inclusion in the new Roll. New members are very welcome. Application forms are available in the Cathedral and Cathedral Office. Closing date for applications: Tuesday 12th March 2019. ‘The Unexpected’ is the subject for discussion at tomorrow’s meeting of the Cathedral Fellowship (Monday 18th February). We all meet someone or something totally unexpected in our lives from time to time - so why not share your experience with the group? Come and join the Cathedral Fellowship at 2.30pm in 4 Lane. New Chair of Sanctuary sought: Sanctuary in Chichester was set up in 2016 to make Chichester and the surrounding area a welcoming place for asylum seekers and refugees. We have a network of volunteers and organise a wide range of activities including a drop-in session, language tuition, a football team, fund-raising activities and ongoing support to families and young people. We seek a Chair who is able to co-ordinate and promote our response to new opportunities, to help consolidate the activities we are currently delivering and to work effectively with other local partners. We anticipate receiving charity status later this year when the chair would then act as Chair of the Trustees. This is a voluntary post. If you are interested please contact [email protected] by 31st March.
