That situation lasted until 1999, when, once again the community and the school came together to resurrect a great local tradition. Mike Perpich called Ric Mandes, and together they arranged to meet with Robbins and Phil Morris. This group, along with businessman Billy Griffis, GSU Athletic Director Sam Baker, and a host of other civic leaders joined forces to restart the Schenkel.

Bubba Watson - Bagdad, Fla. - Georgia Won the Schenkel in 2000 Won The Masters in 2012 and 2014 and has posted nine PGA Tour Wins and 50 top-10 finishes in 251 events during his 15-year career. Watson represented the United States in the in 2010, 2012 and 2014 and in the Presidents Cup in 2011 and 2015. He posted a 2-2 record in the , a 1-3 mark in 2010 and an 0-3 record in 2014.

Scott Verplank

Scott Verplank - Dallas, Texas - Oklahoma State Won the Schenkel in 1984 While a collegiate student-athlete, Verplank became the first amateur to win a PGA Tour event since 1956 when he took the title at the . Verplank has five PGA Tour wins and two Ryder Cup appearances in 2002 and 2006. He has recorded top-10 finishes in every Major Championship and has earned 27 top-3 and 94 top-10 finishes since he turned pro in 1986.

Bob Tway

Bob Tway - Oklahoma City, Okla. - Oklahoma State Won the Schenkel in 1981 Tway turned professional in 1981, recorded eight PGA Tour victories and spent 25 weeks in the top-10 of the Official World Golf Rankings. He won the PGA Championship over in 1986 off a greenside bunker on the 18th hole of the final day. Tway was named the PGA Player of the Year in 1986.

Hal Sutton - Shreveport, La. - Centenary College Won the Schenkel in 1980 Sutton won his first PGA Tour event at the 1982 Walt Disney World Golf Classic in a playoff with Bill Britton. His first and only major win came a year later at the PGA Championship. Sutton was ranked in the top-10 of the Official World Golf Rankings for over 50 weeks from 1986-87 and then again from 1999-2001. He played on four United States Ryder Cup teams and was named non-playing captain of the team in 2004. Sutton played in 646 PGA Tour events since turning professional in 1981, earning 14 first-place finishes and 124 top-10 placings.

Andy Bean

Andy Bean - Lafayette, Ga. - Florida Won the Schenkel in 1977 Bean took his career to the professional ranks in 1975 and played on the United States Ryder Cup team in 1979 and 1987. After competing in 588 PGA Tour events, he currently plays on the Champions Tour. Bean has 11 first-place finishes in his career and holds three Champions Tour victories.

Curtis Strange - Norfolk, Va. - Wake Forest Won the Schenkel in 1974 A member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, Strange spent over 200 weeks in the top-10 of the golf rankings. He is considered one of the best golfers of the 1980s, when he won 16 of his 17 PGA Tour titles. He won back-to-back U.S. Opens in 1988 and 1989 and topped the tour money list in 1985 and 1987. In 1988, he became the first player to win a million dollars on the Tour in a single season. Strange played in 598 PGA Tour events, winning 17 and finishing in the top-10 129 times.
