Orejudos College of Engineering and Technology Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology Iligan City, 9200 Philippines *[email protected] Date received: August 28, 2019 Revision accepted: February 5, 2020 Abstract Building codes are updated advertently to address the catastrophic effect of earthquakes. One way of mitigating it is the development of a site-specific response spectrum. In the Philippines, the National Structural Code of the Philippines (NPSC) is the recognized National Building Code adopting the 1997 Uniform Building Code (UBC). The NSCP uses the 10% probability of exceedance in a 50-year period with a return period of 475 years. In this study, site-specific response spectra were developed in the 2nd District of Cagayan de Oro City using a 300-km radius, with coordinates of 8.235° (latitude) and 124.024° (longitude) as the center point of the study area, using the same probability of exceedance in a 50-year period. Historical earthquake catalogs were gathered from the United States Geological Survey and the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology. Local soil condition was assimilated in the study to take into account the soil response. Finally, site-specific response spectra were developed using the probabilistic seismic hazard analysis where substantial results are achieved, i.e., the UBC 1997 design response spectrum is remarkably high in spectral acceleration values at 0.01, 0.20, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 s at 0.44, 1.1, 1.1, 0.7, 0.36, 0.26 and 0.20 g compared to the maximum site-specific response spectra of the study area of the same period at 0.39, 0.92, 0.23, 0.10, 0.07, 0.05 and 0.04 g spectral accelerations, respectively. -

Makati City, National Capital Region (Metro-Manila), Philippines Population: 510,383 Type of Hazard(s): Typhoons, Earthquakes, Floods For the past years, Makati is among the cities in NCR affected by several hydrometeorological disasters such as Typhoon Milenyo (Xangsane) in 2006, Typhoon Egay (Sepat) in 2007, Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana) in 2009, and Typhoon Pepeng (Parma) also in 2009. There are two physical characteristics of the City that pose danger to its present and future development. A part of the Valley Fault System, a potential generator of a large magnitude of earthquake in NCR is located at the eastern part of Makati. Six (6) barangays (communities) were identified as high risk areas. Second, the western portion of the City is composed of former tidal flats where seven (7) barangays are flood-prone. Disaster Risk Reduction activities Essential 1: Put in place Organisation and coordination The City Government established and institutionalised the Makati City Disaster Coordinating Council (MCDCC) as a specialised task group for the coordination of disaster reduction policies and strategies between the national, regional levels and the city level. MCDCC also serves as a policy decision-making body for DRR-related activities. Essential 2: Assign a budget for DRR As mandated by the Local Government Code of 1991 (RA 7160) the City Government allots 5% of its total annual fund for calamity. From 2010 onwards, the City Government optimises the said fund to be used for disaster preparedness and risk reduction in addition to disaster response and post recovery initiatives. -

Following Abidin Kusno, we may speak of the ideological continuity behind globalization in the continuing hold of a modernist ethic, not only on the imagination of planners and builders but on the preferences of elite consumers for exclusive spaces. Most of the scholarly work considering the spatial impact of corporate-led urban development has situated the phenomenon in the ‘global’ era — to the extent that the spatial patterns resulting from such development appear wholly the outcome of contemporary globalization. The case of Makati City belies this periodization. By examining the development of a corporate master-planned new city in the 1950s rather than the 1990s, we can achieve a better appreciation of the influence of an enduring ideology — a modernist ethic — in shaping the duality of Makati. The most obvious thing in some parts of Greater Manila is that the city is Little America, New York, especially so in the new exurbia of Makati where handsome high-rise buildings, supermarkets, apartment-hotels and shopping centers flourish in a setting that could well be Palm Beach or Beverly Hills. -

The Study for Socio-Economic Reconstruction and Development of Conflict-Affected Areas in Mindanao in the Republic of the Philippines SUPPLEMENTARY CHAPTER 5.3 NEEDS ANALYSIS In order to comprehensively sketch the structure and depth of development needs in CAAM, various needs identified through the surveys were ranked and categorized. In doing so, the concept of a three-layer structure is introduced. First, the needs expressed by people were classified into the layer of “development needs,” as show in the right column of Table 5.3-1. Then, the “development needs” were grouped based on their similarity and proximity, and raised into the layer of “sectors.” Finally, these sectors were further combined to form the highest layer of “categories.” As a result, various development needs were then converged into the four broad need categories of: Basic Social Services, Public Facilities, Economic Infrastructure, and Livelihood. This process of categorization and structure construction were also repeated in the analysis of the IBNA. POWER SUPPLY PROCUREMENT PLAN BUKIDNON SECOND ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE, INC. POWER SUPPLY PROCUREMENT PLAN In compliance with the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Department Circular No. DC 2018-02-0003, “Adopting and Prescribing the Policy for the Competitive Selection Process in the Procurement by the Distribution Utilities of Power Supply Agreement for the Captive Market” or the Competitive Selection process (CSP) Policy, the Power Supply Procurement Plan (PSPP) Report is hereby created, pursuant to the Section 4 of the said Circular. The PSPP refers to the DUs’ plan for the acquisition of a variety of demand-side and supply-side resources to cost-effectively meet the electricity needs of its customers. The PSPP is an integral part of the Distribution Utilities’ Distribution Development Plan (DDP) and must be submitted to the Department of Energy with supported Board Resolution and/or notarized Secretary’s Certificate. The Third-Party Bids and Awards Committee (TPBAC), Joint TPBAC or Third Party Auctioneer (TPA) shall submit to the DOE and in the case of Electric Cooperatives (ECs), through the National Electrification Administration (NEA) the following: a. Power Supply Procurement Plan; b. Distribution Impact Study/ Load Flow Analysis conducted that served as the basis of the Terms of Reference; and c. Due diligence report of the existing generation plant All Distribution Utilities’ shall follow and submit the attached report to the Department of Energy for posting on the DOE CSP Portal. For ECs such reports shall be submitted to DOE and NEA. The NEA shall review the submitted report within ten (10) working days upon receipt prior to its submission to DOE for posting at the DOE CSP Portal. -
