Per a aquesta exposició hem seleccionat només una de les obres més emblemàtiques de cadascun d’ells. Us convidem a buscar al catàleg la resta dels seus treballs i unir-vos a aquest petit homenatge. Unfortunately we have decided to leave the Borderline, as I truly feel the ambience of the refurbished venue is unsuitable for our type of show. I must point out before any cries of disloyalty towards the 100 Club for leaving that venue for the Borderline, it was purely that at the time the veteran Oxford Street establishment was under threat. It was suggested by the management that we move our event to a temporary home whilst the problems were in the process of being sorted out.

Its current Chair Barry Hyde founded the Festival in 2013 as an initiative that would provide a theme that both businesses and the community would buy into. It was seen as a Festival that supported a number of individual events that adopted the 60’s theme but the interpretation was left to each event organising group. The first year did attract a number of groups and businesses, and was seen to have great potential going forward. Pete Sweetmore Joined Barry in 2014 to provide further capacity to discuss and engage with businesses and community groups with a view to developing further events and express the opportunities for all to benefit. The Festival Organising Group now a constituted group of members that coordinates and promotes the Festival and has succeeded in developing the Festival to where it is now.     Excerpt of The Hollies Tour from Malcolm Lenny’s book "Shoulders I've Rubbed" October ’64 we had just been signed up to do a 6 nights a week, 3 week tour headed by THE HOLLIES. With HEINZ, the ex-Tornado, JESS CONRAD, the incomparable, THE DIXIE CUPS from U.S.A. THE TORNADOS WAYNE GIBSON & THE DYNAMIC SOUNDS THE HI-FI’S THE WILD BOYS This was a great show. It was all 5 original HOLLIES. ALLAN CLARKE, GRAHAM NASH, TONY HICKS, ERIC HAYDOCK & BOBBY ELIOTT. The Wild boys backed HEINZ. The TORNADOS backed THE DIXIE CUPS and we backed JESS CONRAD. Now don’t laugh! Jess would be the first to say that he wasn’t a great singer but he was such a good-looking bloke with a really cheeky sense of humour that he went down a storm. It became a battle between Jess and Heinz as to who got the most screams from the girls in the audience. At one of the shows, Jess stepped out on top of the mighty Wurlitzer Organ in the pit, to get closer to the girls. Not to be outdone, Heinz jumped onto it and went straight through the rigid plastic cover and there he stood up to his calves, unable to move. Brilliant! Some of the highs from that tour were that THE HOLLIES were at number 5 with “We’re Through” and we were on the front page of the NME advertising “I keep Forgettin’“. There was no danger of us knocking them off the top. I was out getting a coffee with ALLAN CLARKE & HEINZ, when we were spotted by some girls.

To begin with, there are several errors where wrong names or titles appear that could've been prevented with simple proof-reading. And some things, such as Bobby Elliott's illness in 1967 where several drummers filled in for him on the road in the studio, are only briefly touched on and others not mentioned at all. Another weakness is the author's not going into more detail on the music. The booklet that accompanied The Long Road Home box set was far superior and could've been used as a reference work here, if the writer had been so inclined. But on the other hand, there were some very interesting revelations that the book brought to light that I never knew before...such as bassist Eric Haydock continuing as the band's bassist, even after Bernie Calvert had come in as his replacement in May 1966, until he was officially fired in July 1965.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.
