Mycoscience Is Going Gold Open Access, and Will Be Available at J-STAGE Mycoscience is going gold open access, and will be available at J-STAGE. Our main English journal, Mycoscience has been published by the Mycological Society of Japan in cooperation with Springer-Verlag Tokyo and Elsevier Japan, since its inception. Our society has decided to flip Mycoscience into a gold open access journal for more efficient publicity of scientific achievements by the authors, and for our further international promotion in mycology. From the first issue in Vol. 62 (Jan., 2021), the articles in Mycoscience will be openly available at J-STAGE (https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/browse/mycosci/-char/en) for everyone as they are published. Authors are encouraged to subit your articles now to be included in the first open access issue. For submission, please visit our new editorialmanager page at https://www.editorialmanager.com/mycoscience. Journal Overview Mycoscience is our official English and fully open access journal, published bimonthly. Both members and non-members of the Mycological Society of Japan are encouraged to submit manuscripts for publication in the journal. Mycoscience publishes original research articles (Full Papers, Short Communications, and Notes) and reviews on various aspects of fungi including yeasts and other organisms that traditionally have been studied by mycologists. The research aspects covered by Mycoscience extend from such purely scientific interests as systematics (taxonomy by traditional methods and systematics by molecular methods), evolution, phylogeny, morphology, ecology, physiology, biochemistry, genetics, and molecular biology, to such agricultural, medical, and industrial applications as pathology (human, animal, and plant), pharmaceuticals, food processing, and other biotechnologies. Also included are new and improved applications of well-established mycological techniques and methods. Mycoscience is listed in Web of Science, and has an impact factor of 1.172 (for 2019). For continuous improvement of the journal quality, all the articles are peer-reviewed by anonymous reviewers and editor in chief. We use electrical submission system (https://www.editorialmanager.com/mycoscience). The articles will be published online at J-STAGE (https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/browse/mycosci/-char/en), available and distributable under the Creative Commons(CC) license, CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0 International license. To cover publishing costs for Mycoscience, the authors are asked to pay a portion of the costs as article processing charges (APC). The APC currently are: MSJ member, as a corresponding author or the first author, will not be charged APC for manuscripts with eight typeset journal pages for a Full Paper and Review, or four printed pages for a Short Communication and Note. Non-member author will be charged JPY 6,000 for each of the first eight typeset journal pages for a Full Paper, or for each of the first four typeset journal pages for a Short Communication and Note. In addition, all authors will be charged JPY 15,000 for each extra typeset journal page. For more detailed information, Please find the “INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS” at our editorialmanager site for Mycoscience (https://www.editorialmanager.com/mycoscience). For Librarians The society can provide a printed form of the journal in a volume. Please mail your request to the Secretary of the Mycological Society of Japan ([email protected]).
