There is a top notch double bill which sees Pot favourite Stevie Nimmo Trio performing the same night as Philip Sayce. Top tributes are always well attended and there are plenty of them to look forward to this autumn. As always, thanks for your support - Enjoy the gigs. Alan Woolley (RAW Promotions) Page 2 's MARTIN BARRE Martin Barre has been the guitarist of Jethro Tull for 43 years, his sound and playing having BAND been a major factor in their success. Album sales have exceeded 60 million units and they continue to be played worldwide, representing an important part of classic rock history. As Jethro Tull are taking a long break from touring, Martin has put together a band to play the "classic" music from the Tull catalogue. His band, under the title of Martin Barre's New Day is a total commitment to give the Tull fans and a broader audience the chance to hear tracks not performed for many years. The band in- cludes other members of Tull and top musi- cians from a similar background. FRIDAY 12th SEPTEMBER Doors 8pm "A CLASSIC ROCK Double Bill"... • Devon Allman, Son of Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers Band, Leads His Band Called Honey Tribe and He Is a Member of Royal Southern Brotherhood As Well
Singer/guitarist Devon Allman, son of Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers Band, leads his band called Honey Tribe and he is a member of Royal Southern Brotherhood as well. Now Devon has recorded his first solo album that is made up songs that are written about his personal life along with one Tom Petty cover song. The 2013 International Blues Challenge was held in Memphis from January 29 – February 2. Ghost Town Blues Band from Memphis did not win, but they did make it to the top ten. They have released two excellent albums and can be seen performing at many local venues. Former Memphian Little G. Weevil won the solo/duo category and best guitarist in that category at the IBC. His excellent album The Teaser is a great example of why he won. Boz Scaggs came to Memphis to record his new album titled, surprisingly enough, Memphis. Most surprising is how well he handles the soul and blues songs on Memphis. Devon Allman – Turquoise Devon Allman is Gregg Allman’s son, but he grew up with his mom in Corpus Christi, Texas, away from the rock & roll lifestyle. He didn’t even meet his dad until he was a teenager, but they are now very close. While Devon was influenced by The Allman Brothers, he was also influenced by a myriad of other musicians and styles of music, so he really doesn’t sound much like The Allman Brothers. Devon has his own unique sound, both in his guitar playing and his singing. Some have tried to compare him to his uncle Duane, but aside from both having blonde hair and favoring Les Paul guitars, there aren’t a lot of similarities.

MUSIC 351: Psychedelic Rock of the 1960s Spring 2015, T 7:00–9:40 p.m., ENS-280 Instructor: Eric Smigel ([email protected]) M-235, office hours: Mondays & Tuesdays, 3:00–4:00 p.m. This is a lecture class that surveys psychedelic rock music and culture of the 1960s. Psychedelic music played an important role in the development of rock music as a predominant art form during one of the most formative decades in American history. Emerging along with the powerful counterculture of hippies in the mid-1960s, psychedelic rock reflects key elements of the “Love Generation,” including the peace movement, the sexual revolution, the pervasive use of recreational drugs (especially marijuana and LSD), and the growing awareness of Eastern philosophy. The main centers of countercultural activity—the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco and the London Underground—drew a high volume of media exposure, resulting in the famous “Summer of Love” and culminating in popular music festivals in Monterey, Woodstock, and Altamont. Students in this course will examine the music and lyrics of a selection of representative songs by The Grateful Dead, The Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother and the Holding Company, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, and other bands closely associated with the burgeoning psychedelic scene. Students will also consult primary source material—including interviews with several of the musicians, influential literature of the period, and essays by key figures of the movement—in order to gain insight into the social, political,

The old Stephen F. Austin Hotel, where I stayed for the first five years at the tournament was remodeled and renamed. The cost became outrageous there, so we no longer enjoyed staying downtown. Today the Hotel is called InterContinental Stephen F. Austin. Visiting Sixth street became popular and I continued to eat at the Waterloo Ice House. The main attraction in those days was playing at Gregory Gym on the campus of U.T. We always had great pickup games at the student activity center, located right next to Gregory. Jogging was also another passion of mine. Town Lake provided great running trails just south of downtown Austin. Coaching clinics became the norm, as I continued to learn the game. Great times. The person who had the greatest impact on my life was my brother-in-law. This book is dedicated to him. At the age of 10, he began coming over to the house dating my older sister. He was like a family member. For the next twenty years he influenced all aspects of my life.

  • THE PRETTY THINGS 26. September 2017 Stuttgart Goldmark's 1964 War Ein Magisches Jahr Für Die Rockmusik. Jugendrevolte, Beat
THE PRETTY THINGS 26. Dennoch hatten THE PRETTY THINGS damals Hit auf Hit: ,,Rosalyn" , ,,Don't bring me down"' ,,Road Runnner"' ,,Big boss man", ,,Midnight to six men" und einige mehr schafften die Top 20. Mit ihrer zweiten LP ,,Get The Picture" kam erstmals Melodie ins Spiel.
