Speaks Out

“I think the addition of Syracuse is great for women’s hockey. We want to grow the game and provide women student-athletes as many opportunities to play the sport they love and receive a quality education. The CHA has a great tradition and adding Syracuse will only enhance the league. We have some great rivalries so I expect Syracuse to add to the excitement and competition that MMichaelichael SistiSisti already exist. Im sure Paul and his staff will do a fi ne job and Syracuse will add to the league in many different ways.” - Mercyhurst Head Coach -

“The addition of Syracuse will have an immediate positive effect on the CHA. The name ‘Syracuse’ has a great name in collegiate athletics and will give instant credibility to the league. I’ve seen the Orange’s inaugural roster and it already looks to be a very competitive team right from the start. I anticipate SU will hit the ice full-stride and be an immediate force to be reckoned with this MMargotargot PPageage year and many years to come.” - Niagara Head Coach -

“Adding the Orange will help the league and its teams in several ways. First, it adds four games to each team’s schedule which means less non-conference games to schedule. Scheduling is diffi cult when you are trying to fi ll our 22 non-league games. Secondly, it adds more depth to our championship weekend. We can now have a quarter fi nal game with the 4th and 5th seed along with the NNateate HHandrahanandrahan semifi nal and fi nal, which will allow additional opportunities for media exposure. Lastly, having Syracuse puts us one program away - Robert Morris Head Coach - from an automatic bid (to the NCAA Tournament) which will be a huge step for our league and recruiting for all of our programs.” The (CHA) women’s conference began in the fall of 2002 with Warrior senior Jessica Snelgrove was selected CHA Student-Athlete of the Year. four teams including three from the former Great Lakes Women’s Hockey Association (Findlay, The Lakers had to travel to Wisconsin in the fi rst round of the NCAA tournament but lost in Mercyhurst and Wayne State) and Niagara, who previously played in the ECAC. double overtime (2-1) to the host Badgers.
