The Colonials fell to the Bobcats 3-2 and 2-1 in two tightly contested games. Kristen Richards registered her seventh goal of the season after an early tally in Friday’s contest. Maddie Collias and Katelyn Scott registered as- sists after a quick passing play led to a behind-the-cage play. The early lead quickly evaporated after a short-handed goal from Bobcats forward Nicole Kosta. With time dwindling on the Colonials power play, Kosta and junior forward Kelly Babstock converted on a quick-passing 2-on-1 break opportunity. Neither team could capitalize on their power play opportunities in the second period as the two teams entered the third period tied at one. Just 22 seconds into the third period, Quinnipiac senior forward Brittany Lyons scored the game-winning goal with freshman forward Nicole Con- nery tallying the assist. Senior goaltender Kristen Diciocco registered 22 saves in the Colonials loss. In game two of the series all Colonial points were registered by different skaters in the loss. At 13:46 of the first period Quinnipiac senior forward Brittany Lyons scored the first goal of the contest off a rebound play set up by freshmen defensemen Kristen Tamberg and Nicole Connery. Both teams went 0-1 on power play opportunities but the Bobcats dictated the offensive action registering 14 shots to the Colonials six. Twelve minutes into the second period RMU tied the contest when sophomore forward Katie Fergus tallied her third goal of the season on a tip- play past the goaltender. After receiving a pass from junior defenseman Brandi Pollock, sophomore defenseman Kelsey Gunn fired a shot towards the net which Fergus deflected to the back of the net. A little over three minutes later sophomore forward Rebecca Vint gave the Colonials a 2-1 lead with her 13th goal of the season. Vint capitalized on the Colonial power play opportunity after a tic-tac-toe play between her and senior forward Kelsey Thomas and junior defenseman Kylie St. Louis lead to the chance near the crease. The Colonials carried the lead into the second intermission. The third period proved to be turning point for the Bobcats after they registered two goals in less than a minute to take the lead 3-2. Both goals came off power play opportunities, the first of which was a 5-on-3 advantage. The goals were scored by senior defenseman Regan Boulton and Connery.
