Courageous, loyal, and ready to serve, these amazing canines train as thoroughly as our military heroes and willingly charge into the face of danger without hesitation, with unfl appable determination and complete focus on the mission. Their highly developed olfactory organs make them well-suited for tracking, searching and rescuing, sniffi ng out bombs, and pursuing perpetrators. It was wonderful to see the rapport and sophisticated level of communication between dog handler and canine. When SSgt Hines gave the command, MWD Szuli bolted in pursuit of the “perpetrator”, i.e. SSgt Rainge, and successfully captured him. With a simple gesture, the command for at ease was given by the handler and the military working dog seamlessly made the transition from attack mode to rest. All attendees had the privilege of watching a wonderful program and gained a better appreciation of the intense training and teamwork needed between handler and dog to execute important missions.
