Robbie Robertson of The Band speaks in ILS lecture series Legendary guitarist and songwriter Robbie Robertson, best known for his work with The Band in the 1960s and 1970s, spoke before an appreciative crowd of about 500 in the Institute for Leadership Studies’ Fall Leadership Lecture Series in partnership with Book Passage at Dominican University of California on November 30. Robertson, one of Rolling Stone’s 100 greatest guitarists of all-time, discussed Testimony, his memoir of The Band’s storied career, which culminated in one of music history’s most famous farewell concerts, The Last Waltz, in 1976 in San Francisco. The book also details Robertson’s lengthy career backing legends such as Bob Dylan and Ronnie Hawkins. Writer/producer Dan Stone, founder and editor-in-chief of Radio Silence who previously has interviewed musical luminaries such as Bruce Springsteen, Patti Smith, and Elvis Costello for City Arts and Lectures, appeared in conversation with Robertson. Dominican was the only scheduled stop in the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California on the Testimony book tour. CLICK HERE to watch video of Robertson's appearance at Dominican.
