Students from 51 foreign countries received degrees today (June 12) from the

Massachusetts Institute of Technology. :viany families and relatives of the 212 foreign degree

recipients came to the United States to witness the awarding of degrees at the 98th commence-

ment exercises of the scientific and technological Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The foreign students were among approximately 1170 students receiving graduate

and undergraduate degrees. Dr. Julius ". Stratton, I-resident of &.1. T., gave the commence-

ment address and personally presented the diplomas to each degree recipient. Dr. James R.

Killian, Jr., Chairman of the M.I.T. Corporation, presided over the cerumonies.
