PUBLIC NOTICE Notice is hereby given in pursuance of section 9 (1) (a) of the Delhi Water Board Act, 1998 that in the area of state of Delhi as specified in the Schedule below, water is available from the water source of the Board for reasonable supply to all the lands and buildings in such area. The plot-holders / occupiers are advised to apply for sanction of water connection online on DJB Customer Portal www.djb.gov.in or in hard copy in the prescribed form which may be obtained from the office of Customer Service Centre of Delhi Jal Board – M/s. NWS Pvt. Ltd., at Uttam Nagar, Najafgarh Road, Near Nangli Mor, Rana Ji, Enclave, Najafgarh, Delhi- 110043. Applicants may contact to Toll Free No.1800-1020-389. The form can also be down- loaded from DJB’s website www.djb.gov.in. After sanction of water connection, payment of initial charges, road restoration charges and water connection installation charges, M/s. NWS Pvt. Ltd. will install the water connection from DJB water line to the boundary of applicant’s property. The virus has been renamed by WHO as SARS- CoV-2 and the disease caused by it as COVID-19. COVID-19 was declared a pandemic by WHO on 11th March, 2020. As per WHO (as of 10th April, 2020), there has been a total of 1524161 confirmed cases and 92941 deaths due to COVID-19 worldwide. In India, as on 10th April 2020, out of 7447 confirmed cases (including foreign nationals), 239 deaths have been reported from 31 States/UTs and 642 patients have been discharged after recovery. Containment plans have been prepared with 5 Ts given by Hon’ble CM of Delhi, which are: TESTING, TRACING, TREATMENT, TEAMWORK, TRACKING.

Tech, Department of Computer Science– Maharaja Agrasen College, Universityof Delhi Abstract Over the past years due to rigorous agricultural practice, urbanization,rapid industrialization and daily household activities, water pollution has becomea major issue. These factors have played havoc on a water body in the national capital of India as well.The famous Najafgarh Drain in Delhi, once a rich wetland,has turned into one of the most polluted water body in the country. This paper discusses the ecological importance of the drain, the causes and effects of the subsequent decline in its quality. It also discusses the findings of two field visits undertaken to understand the local effects of water pollution of the drain on the lives of residents who live in proximity of the drain. Keywords: Najafgarh Drain, pollution loads, industrialization, urbanization, sewage disposal, environmental degradation Introduction: The famous Najafgarh drain (See Map in Figure 1) in the national capital of the country got its name from a town called Najafgarh in South West Delhi. It is now recognized as the “Ganda Nallah” by the residents of the city due to high levels of pollution. The situation is so bad, that in 2005, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) stamped it as a highly polluted drain and put it under “D” category with other 13 highly polluted wetlands(7). This wasn't always the state of the drain.

    FORKTAIL 19 (2003): 39-50 The birds of Okhla barrage bird sanctuary, Delhi, India ABDUL JAMIL URFI Okhla barrage bird sanctuary, on the river Yamuna in south Delhi, is an important site for breeding and wintering waterbirds, with 14,000–20,000 waterbirds recorded in winter. The dominant feature of the site is a large lake formed after the creation of a barrage on the river in 1986. Historical records, records resulting from fieldwork since 1989, and other recent records have been combined to produce a list of 302 species for the site and its immediate area. Species recorded since 1992 include three Vulnerable species (Baer’s Pochard Aythya baeri, Indian Skimmer Rynchops albicollis and Bristled Grassbird Chaetornis striatus) and six Near Threatened species (Ferruginous Pochard Aythya nyroca, Black-bellied Tern Sterna acuticauda, Darter Anhinga melanogaster, Black-headed Ibis Threskiornis melanocephalus, Painted Stork Mycteria leucocephala and Black-necked Stork Ephippiorhynchus asiaticus). The sanctuary is being encroached upon, and isolated by, surrounding development. INTRODUCTION The Okhla barrage bird sanctuary in Delhi is a haven for waterbirds (Singh 1983, Urfi 1993a, b, 1995). In 1990, an area of c.3.5 km2 on the river Yamuna in Delhi was notified as a bird sanctuary by the Uttar Pradesh government under the Wildlife Protection Act of India. The site is located at the point where the river leaves the territory of Delhi and enters the neighbouring state of Uttar Pradesh (Fig. 1). The most prominent feature of the sanctuary is the large lake created by damming the river, which lies sandwiched between Okhla village towards the west and Gautambudh Nagar towards the east.
