So Far Away (Staind song) " So Far Away " is a power ballad by American band Staind. It was released in June 2003 as the second single from their fourth album 14 Shades of Grey . The song enjoyed much success on both rock and mainstream radio, reaching #1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks for fourteen consecutive weeks, one of the longest runs in the chart's history, and #1 on the Modern Rock Tracks for seven non-consecutive weeks. The song also became the band's second Top 40 Hit on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #24. "So Far Away" was also used in trailer footage of The Punisher before the movie was released, although it was not included on the soundtrack. WWE have used this song in one of their Tribute To The Troops videos for 2007, as well as for a video tribute to Mick Foley. The song was also featured in an episode of Smallville and is included on Disc 1 of the ″"Ultimate Smallville Soundtrack"″ 5 disc box set and The Forest Animals. They came a really long way. Sadly, some people don't appreciate all genres of music. I'm always open to opinions, however, who does it help to write rude comments? There's a difference between stating an opinion and straight insulting someone's hard work. I would never write something so blatantly insulting about any musician no matter how much I disliked them. I find it very sad that I keep seeing comments like that in many of these review sections of the Discogs site. I have been a fan of Staind since the release of Dysfunction. They are very talented musicians and Aaron Lewis' voice is beautiful yet haunting at the same time. Aaron takes the very personal issues and struggles in his life and makes them the subject of most of his lyrics. The lyrics have definitely helped me when I was younger - and still today - to feel like I wasn't alone, and that someone else out there feels exactly the way I feel. The 12-song album, produced by David Botrill (Tool, Godsmack) features the first single, the classic, mid-tempo and dynamic “Right Here,” as well standouts like the edgy, dark “Falling,” the poignant, retro-feeling “Schizophrenic Conversations,” and the soaring “Everything Changes.” CHAPTER V is classic Staind, songs ranging from forceful to quiet, from industrial-tinged to melodious, often within one song, with singer Aaron Lewis’ instantly recognizable voice heartfelt and fervent. Lyrically, Lewis isn’t afraid to look deep, and what he finds—the good, bad and ugly—is translated into soul-baring songs that he often agonizes over. “I’m my own worst critic,” Lewis admits. “The personal songs; it’s a way for me to get those things out, because I wouldn’t feel comfortable saying them to anyone. I’m pretty bad about being an internalist—I hold everything down and then explode. It’s better for everyone around me that I put that explosion down into lyrics rather than just exploding on somebody. “ As for where CHAPTER V fits into the band’s legacy, Lewis puts the CD into perspective: “It’s the fifth chapter of feelings in a six-year long book; a narrative of feelings. The title makes people go, ‘wait a second; Dysfunction, Break the Cycle, 14 Shades of Grey, Chapter V… that’s only four?’ So it will make people look for the fifth one.” (Which, for the record, is 1996’s independent release, TORMENTED.)
