Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Local BOURNEMOUTH, CHRISTCHURCH AND POOLE LOCAL PLAN REGULATION 18 – CALL FOR SITES CONSULTATION SUMMARY OF RESPONSES Growth and Infrastructure Planning Policy Team Author: Laura Archer, Planning Policy Team Version: V1.4 Date: 13 August 2020 Introduction In accordance with Regulation 18 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012, the Council as part of the commencement of the BCP Local Plan, carried out a statutory consultation for 6 weeks in the period October 2019 to November 2019. This included a ‘call for sites’ to enable sites to be promoted through the local plan process which may be suitable, available and achievable to develop for housing or other uses. The Council also consulted to ascertain views from organisations and the public on the key issues that the BCP Local Plan should address. The consultation was published on the Councils’ website(s) and hard copies were displayed in each of the Councils’ main town offices and in each of the libraries across BCP. 2897 consultees were also individually contacted by email and further 214 were contacted by letter including 10 parishes or forums and 60 residents’ groups. A total of 206 sites have been promoted across BCP. The promoted sites can be viewed on the Council’s interactive plan by clicking here:- https://bcpcouncil.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=16946c1881c54105a6fe6f637799d84d Due to Covid-19, and issues with resources and data privacy, it is not possible to publish the full responses on the Council’s website at this time. However, details regarding the promoted sites are also included in the table below (see fig 3). In terms of next steps, each site which has been promoted will be assessed by the Council planning team in terms of their suitability and sustainability. This will be supported by the Urban Capacity Study and Green Belt review which will be undertaken. A neo-Assyrian relief in the Weingreen Museum of Biblical Antiquities, Trinity College Dublin*a case study in artefact acquisition AMANDA KELLY* Classics Department, National University of Ireland, Galway [Accepted 7 September 2010. Published 14 October 2011.] Abstract The focus of this paper is a neo-Assyrian relief discovered in the Weingreen Museum of Biblical Antiquities at Trinity College Dublin (hereafter the Weingreen Museum). The shallow relief depicts a pictorial vignette of a kneeling genie, rendered in profile, facing a tree of life, on a horizon formed by a cuneiform border (WM 1189). Details surrounding the relief’s acquisition were completely unknown to Trinity College Dublin staff during 2008Á9. This investigation follows a paper trail which illuminates the circumstances behind its procurement and subsequent journey from Iraq to Dublin in the Victorian period.

  • Dhaets Christchurch 2012
The de Havilland Aeronautical Technical School, Christchurch Garth Rogers (Student 1955-1960) Airspeed and de Havilland Airspeed, then based at Portsmouth airfield, was bought into by de Havilland in 1940 and merged completely with them in 1951, but the Company was known as the Airspeed Division of de Havilland Aircraft for some time afterwards. Christchurch was created as a shadow factory for Portsmouth during WWII and by the latter part of 1951 it had a full design, development and manufacturing capability. During the war years Airspeed manufactured Horsa gliders, Oxfords and Mosquitoes. This was followed in the late 1940s and 50s by the Ambassador airliner, Vampire, Sea Venom and ultimately the Sea Vixen. The site had a grass strip, a concrete runway (from 1953) and an aero club. The sports facilities were at Wingfields (a right turn before the “Cat and Fiddle Pub”) on the A35 some two miles from the factory. The site, which had a workforce of some 1800, closed in July 1962. Only one of the old buildings remains now; several were demolished earlier in 2012 to make way for more modern establishments The rest of the land, including the airfield, sports facilities and the School, was used for new businesses and housing. From 1984 to 2000 a Sea Vixen stood outside the old factory site, but due to vandalism and weathering it was moved to the Tangmere Museum. The engraved plinth is still in place. The Apprentice School and its Apprentices The first intake of DH apprentices at Christchurch was considered to be in 1951; there is a group photo taken in front of an Ambassador (see page 12).
