MEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD OREGON tallied 129 points to win its !fth-consecutive Pac-10 title and 12th overall at Roy P. Drachman Stadium in Tucson, Ariz. The Ducks matched UCLA’s streak of consecutive championships from 1992-96. ARIZONA !nished second with 112 points for its highest conference !n- ish since 1993. Three Pac-10 teams !nished in the top-10 at the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, with STANFORD leading the way with a sixth-place !nish (29 points). The Wildcats were close behind in seventh (28), and Oregon tied for 10th (25). Five Pac-10 athletes won individual NCAA titles. WASHINGTON STATE senior Jeshua Anderson, the Pac-10 Men’s Track Athlete of the Year, joined BYU’s Ralph Mann (1969-71) and Iowa State’s Danny Harris (1984-86) as the only athletes to win three NCAA titles in the 400-meter hurdles. Anderson !nished in 48.56, over a half-second ahead of the rest of the !eld. At the Pac-10 Championships, Anderson joined an elite group of conference athletes, including Oregon’s Steve Prefontaine, to win four-consecutive titles in the same event. He earned the season’s collegiate-best and then-American- leading time of 48.13 at the meet. ARIZONA STATE’s Jordan Clarke was named Pac-10 Men’s Field Athlete of the Year after winning both the conference and NCAA titles in the shot put. Other 2011 NCAA champions were Oregon’s Matthew Centrowitz (1,500 meters), CALIFORNIA’s Mike Morrison (decathlon) and WASHINGTON’s Scott Roth (pole vault). Arizona’s Stephen Sambu, a junior college transfer, was named Pac- 10 Men’s Newcomer of the Year after winning the 10,000 meters at the conference championships and placing third at the NCAA Champion- ships. Arizona head coach Fred Harvey earned Pac-10 Coach of the Year honors after leading the Wildcats to the runner-up !nish at the Pac-10 Championships and seventh-place national !nish. Seven student-athletes were named to the Capital One Academic All-America Men’s Track and Field/Cross County teams. Stanford’s Chris Derrick, Elliott Heath and Miles Unterreiner, Oregon’s David Klech and Washington’s Roth were named to the !rst team.
