Just weeks after winning a bronze medal on his World Cup debut, 2014 SportsAid recipient Matthew Gibson, 18 from Lymm in Cheshire, has been named as one of nine SportsAid athletes who will compete for Great Britain at this month’s track cycling world championships which get underway in Paris on February 18.

Matthew’s SportsAid Award last year came from the Jaguar Academy of Sport, which he said would help him to achieve his ambition “to race for a world tour team and maybe one day ride the Tour De France.”

He joins Olympic champions Laura Trott and Ed Clancy as well as 2013 SportsAid recipient (SSE Next Generation) in a 19-strong team that was announced by British Cycling on Friday.

The nine SportsAid athletes in the team are as follows:
