ARUNACHAL PRADESH:- Place of Nature‟s Paradise, lush green forests & deep river valley, thousands of species of flora & fauna. Attained its statehood on 1987‟s 20th Feb. Situated in North-Eastern part of India (83743 sp. Kms area), China to the North & North East (1080 km) & Myanmar to the east (440 km) & a long international border surviving to the west (160 km). It stretches the plains of Brahmaputra valley in the South & snow-capped mountains in the North. Arunachal is the largest state area-wise in the North-Eastern region. Arunachal Pradesh named after ITAFORT (FORT OF BRICKS), built in 14th century. A.D., Arunachal consists of 20 major tribes with state animal as MITHUN & state bird as HORNBILL. The highest peak in the state is situated at 7090mts MSL – KANGTE in West Kameng Dist. Tourist get interested to visit places like – PARSHURAM KUND, MALINITHAN, BHISMAKNAGAR, TAWANG MONASTERY, TIPPI ORCHID CENTRE, and AKASHIGANGA. History says- “Sage Parashuram washed away his sin, SAGE VYASA meditated,King Bhismaka founded his kingdom & Lord Krishna married his consort RUKMINI.” The biggest state of North-East consists of 400 yrs old Tawang Monastery, the sites of archeological excavations like Malinithan & Itanagar, the untouched beautiful lake such as Ganga or Sela Lake, along with numerous variations of scenic beauty of the snowclad silver mountain peaks & lush green meadows where several species of flora & fauna prosper. Indian Toursits can visit the place by having ILP(Inner Line Permit) from Arunachal offices located nearly in all over India states. Foreign Tourists in a group of 2 or more persons can obtain Protected Area Permit (PAP) for a period of 30 days. TAWANG: - TA means “HORSE” & WANG means “CHOSEN”. The name is interpreted by people of Arunachal that it was given by Mera Lama in the 17th century. To reach Tawang – one can reach via Guwahati & Tezpur in Assam; Depart from their one can reach to Bhalukpong in West Kameng Dist first & from there via Bomdila & Sela Pass can go to Tawang by road. District inhabitants are all of Monpa Tribes except Shyo Village which is dominated by people of Tibetian origin. TAWANG MONASTERY is known as „GALDEN NAMGYEL LHATSE‟- The largest monastery in Asia comprises of several sections ranging nearly about 400yrs old dated 17th century A.D., devoted to love, learning & purity of life. The libraries have valuable old scriptures mainly Kanjur & Tanjur numbering 850 bundles. Along with devoteness towards TAWANG MONASTERY we can see & feel the nature‟s purity on PANKANG TENG TSO (P.T. Tso) lake- 17km away from the township. Other eye catching lake are Sangetser Lake & Banggachang Lake. Also we can visit Ghesila range only 25 kms from Tawang Township. Gorichen Peak standing at the height of 22,500 above MSL- a challenge for mountaineers which is 164 km away from the Township. Many attempted to scale that icy peak but only few could achieve success so far. BONG BONG (NURANANG) waterfall- 40 km away from Tawang is breathtaking milky waterfall from the height of 100 mts. BTK(Bap Teng Kang) waterfall, height of 100 ft, cascading at a distance of 80 km, 82kms away from Tawang. SELA PASS (13,714 FTS):- In winter Sela range is lavishly dressed with white snow. The paradise lake near Sela Pass is also an eyecatching place. TAWANG resident says “TASHI DELEK - TASHI DELEK”- means welcome to Tawang. TAWANG WAR MEMORIAL:- Has been built in dedication to the martyrs who made their supreme sacrifice for the safeguard of out motherland „INDIA‟ during 1962 Indo-Chin war A famous quote says- WHEN YOU GO HOME TELL THEM THAT WE GAVE OUR LIVES TODAY FOR YOUR BETTER TOMORROW. JASWANT GARH WAR MEMORIAL: - 21 kms from Sela Pass towards Tawang. This great son of the soil who had immortalized himself by virtue of his excellent deed of bravado by fighting brilliantly, unceasingly, unflinchingly for 72 hrs continuously. – A SALUTE & TRIBUTE TO “JASWANT SINGH”. Also we can visit Manjushree Vidhyapith – the only home for orphans‟ inTawang. TAKTSANG GONPA (Tigers Den): - We can feel the loneliness or calm environment- 45 kms away from Tawang. It is surrounded by a dense coniferous forest & lofty mountains. PARASHURAM KUND: - Is located around 19 kms. North-east of Tezu, Lohit Dist. – a growing town famous of for its scenic beauty. Every year in the month of January- pilgrims from entire India visit this place during Parasuram Mela. AKASHIGANGA: - When Lord Shiva roamed in the sky with dead body of Maa Sati (Parvati). Lord Vishnu used his „Sudershan Chakra‟ to cut the body of Maa sati to bring Lord Shiva in consus. One of the part of the body felt in this area which is 12 km from Malinithan which is so called as Akashi Ganga. A temple near the road where if we go 100 mts. down through a spiral path, where a sparkling object can be seen in the „KUND‟ but ongoing more down, the object is invisible. Devotees take bath in the „KUND‟. BOMDILA: - A beautiful small town at a height of 8000 ft. above sea level where one can see the brilliant landscape of snow clad mountains of Himalayas. This place has a craft centre displaying local crafts, a shopping centre where tourists get 1st feel of the locality of Himalayan Buddhist life. A lot of attractions for the tourists with its apple orchards, artistic people, cool climate, snow capped Himalayan peaks & Buddhist Gompas are to be seen. .
