10 11 LISA HUNTER Lisa Hunter is a screenwriter for both live-action kids’ shows and animation. She is currently writing and story editing The Mystery Files for TVO, as well as developing a series for Cirque du Soleil. She has won two Writers Guild of Canada Awards and been nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Writing in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series. A dual U.S./Canadian citizen, she has a degree in writing from Columbia University.

MARIE-FRANCE LANDRY Creating great stories that spark the imagination has been my goal since the early nineties. I have been fortunate to work on many series of various genres, such as Caillou, Inuk, and Mystery Hunters to name a few. Over the years, I’ve come to wear different hats in the writing world, ranging from series’ creator and developer, story editor, consultant, and, last but not least, screenwriter. I teach and coach on occasion and sit on various industry committees. My work, including illustrated children’s books, has been written, produced, and published both in French and English.

DONNA LEON Donna Leon is President and Executive Producer of Genuine Pictures, an award winning independent production company whose 500 television programs include 14 network series ranging from comedy and documentary to lifestyle and children’s. Her programs can be seen in more than 100 territories worldwide. Donna writes, produces and directs. She is a former college and university professor who also spent two decades at CBC as a journalist, documentary writer/producer and host. Among her accolades are three ACTRA awards, seven Gemini nominations and a handful of Alliance for Children’s Media Awards of Excellence. Donna recently relocated to B.C. from Ontario.

JASON LEVY Jason Levy has worked in children’s television for close to two decades as an editor, composer, producer and director on shows such as Popular Mechanics for Kids, Mystery Hunters, Surprise It’s Edible Incredible, In Real Life, Finding Stuff Out, Cross Country Fun Hunt, Look Kool and others.

MIKI MORI Miki Mori, has a background in the sciences and joined NHK in 1992 as a director and after four years started focusing on education programs related to scientific fields. In her current program, Discover Science (a co-production with NHK and the Al Jazeera Children’s Channel, SWR/WDR), Mori has focused on creating eye-catching visuals to show large-scale scientific experiments. She produces the series and also produces the multi platforms content related Discover Science like iPad app, an experiment showcase and exhibitions. She is now in charge of global marketing, international co-productions especially for NHK educational content

Co-founded in 2010 with partner, Josh Selig, Little Tugboat is a Canadian Production company dedicated to creating quality children’s content. Nietupski has an extensive broadcast history at Corus Entertainment where she was Director of Programming for Canada’s Treehouse TV, and Discovery Kids. She was responsible for building both networks’ roster of successful children’s programming through acquisitions and triggering Canadian production and international co-production. Recently, Brenda has worked as producer and production executive for Little Tugboat on The Adventures Of Napkin Man, season I & II for CBC. Napkin Man is a Canadian Screen Award winner for Best Preschool Series. In 2014, Nietupski was Series Producer for Apartment 11 Productions, on Look Kool, for TVO and C’est Wow for TFO, a school age series about spatial intelligence and geometry and fun! Brenda is a graduate of the University of Toronto in Cinema Studies and English. She has also studied Picture Production at Ryerson University.

SANDRINE PECHELS DE SAINT SARDOS With solid 20 years of TV experience, Sandrine came to Bejuba! Entertainment in February 2007 with one goal in her mind: growing the Bejuba! catalogue and distribution. Sandrine was born in Paris, France and studied Economics at Rouen University. She has been a journalist intern at La Cinq Berlusconi and a sales manager at Double V, a production company specializing in MOW and family programming. After moving to Santa Barbara, California, Sandrine studied Journalism and was a PA for KEY News ABC. She then moved to Toronto and worked as a Business Development Manager at . Her next move was to New York where she spent 12 years working for several major entertainment companies in creative development, production and distribution (Sunbow Entertainment, , TV-Loonland, Hallmark and Classic Media). In all these companies she held high level positions spearheading global distribution and was responsible for generating revenue through: television sales, video sales, digital sales and co-production agreements. She became an expert in new media rights establishing strong digital strategies within Bejuba!. Sandrine is also very involved in the industry as she participates regularly in various festivals and organizations as a juror, panelist and research adviser.

NICOLA PENDER Nicola Pender runs the Media & Marketing department for the Thunderbird Group of Companies and is responsible for all media relations, press, marketing, branding, social media coordination and communications. She is also the lead Publicist on all Thunderbird series including YTV’s Some Assembly Required and City’s Package Deal.

TAMMY SEMEN Tammy Semen has been working in the screen-based industry for the past 17 years. The last 12 of those she’s had the pleasure of working in the kid’s entertainment space. She’s well versed in traditional, Flash, and CG pipelines. Currently, Tammy is voice directing two fabulous preschool series, and producing a group of shorts at Industrial Brothers.

14 15 HELEN SIANOS, MA Helen Sianos brings over 15 years of national live, field, remote and studio broadcast television experience as a senior producer, writer, video editor and director with most of Canada’s top networks such as , CTV, Astral/Bell Media and Global. Her passion for children and youth programming in the broadcast arena lead to a fulfilling career working for CBC, YTV, and Teletoon. Helen was a 2014 recipient of two President’s Spirit Awards at Centennial College. In 2010, she was one of only twenty broadcast media professionals across Canada who was awarded a scholarship to the CWC / Corus Digital Media & Technology Executive Development Program. She is an active member of Women in Film & Television – Toronto (WIFT-T), Professional Writers Association of Canada, and Canadian Women in Communications (CWC).

JULIE STALL Julie Stall has been in the forefront of producing quality children’s television for over 25 years. As SVP, Production for Portfolio Entertainment, Stall has produced Portfolio’s entire animation catalogue for the past 15 years, including 65 episodes of the animated comedy series Carl Squared and 52 episodes of the award-winning animated series RoboRoach. She works extensively with Portfolio’s development team on new upcoming projects and now oversees the production activity in the newly formed studio Portfolio Animation. Currently under her wing is the brand new animated comedy series Freak Town (52 x 11 minute episodes for Teletoon Canada), as well as the company’s prestigious animated production The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! (PBS, Treehouse , CBC, CiTV). Stall also heads production of Doki – the animated adventure series for Discovery Kids Latin America, which is now in its second season (52 x 11 minute episodes and 3 half hour specials).

IRENE WELLERSHOFF Irene heads the Fictional Department of ZDF’s Children and Youth. Her department produces programs for Children 2-13 years and Family for ZDF and KiKA. Among her programs are Siebentein, JoNaLu, Maya, the bee, fairy tale feature-films, coproductions for theatrical release like Rusty the Knight, Pettson and Findus, and Bibi & Tina. Irene’s department won the Prix Jeunesse on two occasions (Pirates of the Gutter, The Little Boy and the Beast). Irene was a Prix Jeunesse moderator in 2004, 2006 and 2008. MIKE GEIGER

Mike Geiger has worked in broadcast animation for over a decade in roles ranging from animator to director. He has also produced various independent work which has been screened at more than 30 animation and comedy festivals worldwide, including a tour with the Spike and Mike’s festival of animation.

He most recently took home three awards for his animated web series Super Duper Super Hero, and his self-released interactive story app I Feel Super hit #1 in the Books category on iTunes Canada, spending 30 days on the Best new apps for kids front page.

Mike is currently a creative consultant on his series Winston Steinburger and Sir Dudley Ding Dong set to air on Teletoon and ABC Australia.

Given for a distinguished career in youth production in Canada, this prestigious prize salutes the individual’s contributions to the industry, leadership skills, ability to innovate and inspire and career-long commitment to young Canadians.

ANDRA SHEFFER

Andra Sheffer is the CEO of two private funds supporting the Canadian digital media, television and film industries: the Independent Production Fund which invests in drama series created for digital platforms; and the COGECO Program Development Fund for the development and production of television drama. She was the founding Executive Director of the Bell Fund (1997-2014) which supports interactive digital media projects associated with Canadian television programs. Previously, she was the founding Executive Director of the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television producing the annual Genie and Gemini Awards (now the Canadian Screen Awards). She lectures on the business of television and digital media and is the editor of publications about the business of TV and digital media production: New Media, New Business: The Producer’s Guide (2001), Create a Winning Proposal – the Handbook for New Media Producers (1999) and the co-editor of MAKING IT: The business of film and television production in Canada (1986 & 1995). She also served as Managing Director of the Toronto International Film Festival, with the federal government as a Certification Officer setting up the original CAVCO office (and Canadian content “point” system), and at the Film Festivals Bureau promoting Canadian films internationally. She has been awarded the Digital Media Trail Blazer award by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, the Champion of Digital Innovation Tribute at Merging Media, an Award of Achievement by the Digi Awards and has been inducted as an Industry Builder into the Playback Hall of Fame.
