Prelude Sonata I C Major G.P. Telemann Andante, Allegro

◆ Introit Hallelujah, Amen anon. Haiti

◆ Call to Worship Psalm 43 : 3–4, 5b At the sign ◆ you may stand. Bold text is read or sung in unison. O send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling. Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; and I will praise you with the harp, O God, my God! Hope in God; for I shall again praise God, my help and my God. We come to worship God!

◆ Opening Hymn The God of Abraham Praise Red Hymnal 49

Prayer of Confession Holy One, grant us faith to confess our sins and seek your mercy. There are barren places in our lives where we wander far from you. We listen to voices who distract us from your call. We submit to powers competing for our loyalty. We do not take the hand you offer leading us out of sin and brokenness. Forgive us. Have mercy on us. Speak tenderly to us of your presence. Feed us with your Word, then send us out to serve you by the power of the Holy Spirit, in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness Friends in Christ, hear and believe the good news of the Gospel. In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God.

◆ Response of Praise Know That God Is Good Red Hymnal 659 Shona text first, followed by English verse

◆ Affirmation of Faith from a Brief Statement of Faith (PCUSA) In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve. We trust in God the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life. The Spirit justifies us by grace through faith, sets us free to accept ourselves and to love God and neighbor, and binds us together with all believers in the one body of Christ, the Church. The same Spirit who inspired the prophets and apostles rules our faith and life in Christ through Scripture, engages us through the Word proclaimed, claims us in the waters of baptism, feeds us with the bread of life and the cup of salvation, and calls women and men to all ministries of the church. In a broken and fearful world the Spirit gives us courage to pray without ceasing, to witness among all peoples to Christ as Lord and Savior, to unmask idolatries in Church and culture, to hear the voices of peoples long silenced, and to work with others for justice, freedom, and peace. In gratitude to God, empowered by the Spirit, we strive to serve Christ in our daily tasks and to live holy and joyful lives, even as we watch for God’s new heaven and new earth, praying, “Come, Lord Jesus!” With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.

Offertory Like as the Hart Healey Willan Psalm 42 : 1–2 Like as the hart (deer) desireth the waterbrooks, so longeth my soul after thee, O God. My soul is athirst for God, yea even for the living God: when shall I come to appear before the presence of God? 606-praise 607-praise 608-praise.mus, Page 2
