PRESS KIT 2019-2020 If you’re looking forward to new experiences in the mountains this winter, here’s a little taster of what’s coming up with a focus on some of the really exceptional must- see activities that are planned. New activities taking place in the mountains this winter: - L’Easy Trott’: all-electric snow scooter rides on the snowy trails, plus Roc’N Trott – descend a 4km track in Les Menuires by scooter. - Multi-season single rail sledge rides: the opening of X-Trem Luge at La Rosière and the Luge de Caribou in Vars. A new toboggan run (on snow) with a travelator to take you back up is planned in Villard-de-Lans / Corrençon. - Continued development of ski touring with the opening of new safe routes in Orcières Merlette, Valmorel and Lioran, and a planned new hike enhanced by three delicious gourmet stops in Peisey Vallandry (Croq’Rando). Gastronomic news: - Craft beer is in the spotlight in the mountains: a real ale brewery has opened in Praz-de-Lys Sommand (K-G Mieussy) where the raclette buffet pairs perfectly with the beer. There’s also a beer bar opening with a wide selection of ales to choose from at La Plagne (Le Brix). - In Val d’Isère, nocturnal gastronomic rendezvous’ at high altitude are 4 offered by two restaurants which you reach by gondola. They’ll be opening their doors each week to light up the winter evenings (Le Folie Douce and Le Refuge de Solaise). Openings: - Opening of La Folie Douce at Les Arc 1800 - Opening of the Sources du Chery at Les Gets: a spa and treatment centre with a children’s play area, as well as an art shop and art gallery. - Opening of a new cultural centre in Vaujany including a cinema/ amphitheatre, library and museum space. Les Contamines-Montjoie will host a national ski competition for children over the age of 14: the Ski d’Or will take place on 4 and 5 April, 2020 and will see hundreds of competitors from all the ESFs take to the slopes to battle for the supreme title.
