The “work” of playing CMA Music Festival is significant. Artists are not “We’ve got to freaking bring it, because everybody else is coming here paid — they donate their time, and in turn CMA donates profits from the spending their hard-earned money to buy tickets, buy plane tickets or they festival to music education — and they perform in usually oppressive heat to drive here and pay for gas and hotels,” says Craig. “It’s our obligation to bust deliver partial sets at the new-and-developing stages with little set-up time our butts to give them the party they deserve.” and a negligible soundcheck. Rain is expected to dampen this year’s festival. “It’s throw and go,” says Doleac, who remembers playing in a charity softball game last year and rushing after the last out to take a stage just seven minutes later. “Sometimes it sounds great in your ear, sometimes it doesn’t, but you’ve got to play either way.” Some of the new-and-developing platforms — particularly the Chevy Breakout Stage, which occupies a park in the center of the festival grounds — are ideal spots to attract new fans. Doleac had 1,500 of them indicate through the app last year that they would attend his set. By the time he finished, the crowd had swelled to over 2,000, in part by attracting passers-by. “Ever since my first show, there has always been somebody come up to me after the show and say, ‘Hey, man, you have a cool voice,’ or ‘You have a really unique voice,’ ” says Doleac. “I figured out early on that that was a tool that I Florida Georgia Line played its first full concert at Nashville’s Ryman needed to use in a world with 500 male acts, some of which are named Adam, Auditorium on May 29, airing the private show on SiriusXM. There are numerous ancillary opportunities to make a connection, too. Hambrick expects to sign autographs during at least one block of time, and Craig is slated to appear at Craig Campbell’s annual charity cornhole tournament, where artists interact with each other and the crowd. Still, the performance slot is the most crucial moment where the Adams — and the other 300 acts — can differentiate themselves through their music and onstage persona. Nearly every artist who appears has previously attended the festival, as either a fan or industry observer. And that informs how they present their brand. “A lot of CMA Fest fans are just casually browsing, and when I’m casually browsing for things, I don’t like to be carnival-barkered,” says Hambrick. “So Blake Shelton (left) flew The Kidd Kraddick Morning Show host Big I take that approach here and just try to do my thing. And that is not only because it was not understood but because it was stigmatised by religion and mainstream heterosexual society. Even today, the term “sodomy” and “catamites” are used in many legal documents and discourses in the USA and these were derived from Biblical texts. The first stirrings of movement on a rational basis to describe same-sex relations started in Europe a little before the region plunged into what are called World War I and World War II. Both were really wars fought by European Nation States and drew in both resources and knowledge from the colonies. Thus Edward Carpenter in England, Magnus Hirschfield in Germany, Havelock Ellis is Austria, all tried their hand at “naming” this phenomenon which was ancient in that they find mention in all human societies across the globe obviously making it a cross=species sexual behaviour. However, as the Upanishads say: “Defining reality or verbalising it – the’Vakas it is called in Sanskrit, took a very long time in secular sciences.

  • THE MUSICAL FEATURES of 2015'S TOP-RANKED COUNTRY SONGS
THE MUSICAL FEATURES OF 2015’s TOP-RANKED COUNTRY SONGS By Mason Taylor Allen Senior Honors Thesis Department of Music University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill April 22, 2016 Approved: Dr. Jocelyn R. Neal, Thesis Advisor Dr. Allen Anderson, Reader Dr. Andrea Bohlman, Reader © 2016 Mason Taylor Allen ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ii ABSTRACT Mason Taylor Allen: The Musical Features of 2015’s Top-Ranked Country Songs Under the direction of Dr. Jocelyn R. Neal The 2015 top-ten country songs analyzed in this study are characterized by the various formats of their song form, harmonies, and lyrics. This thesis presents a comprehensive study of the structure and narratives in sixty-seven songs that summarizes the distinctive features within those domains of contemporary commercial country music. A detailed description of the norm along with identifiable trends emerges. The song form that features most prominently in this repertory includes a verse-chorus-bridge form with three iterations of the chorus, an intro and outro section, and instrumental sections immediately following each chorus. The top-ten country songs have varying degrees of departure from this typical model. Primary features of the harmonies of these top songs include the frequent use of a double-tonic complex, the absence of a 5-1 authentic cadence, the same chord progression throughout the verse, chorus, and bridge, and the use of only two chords throughout the song. Lyrical analyses show that 2015 songs are continuing the traditional themes about romantic attraction, love, heartache, good times and partying, home, family, nostalgia, religion, and inspiration, within the context of small-town country life that this genre has used for years.

    1. LETTER TO CHILDREN OF BAL MANDIR KARACHI, February 4, 1929 CHILDREN OF BAL MANDIR, The children of the Bal Mandir1are too mischievous. What kind of mischief was this that led to Hari breaking his arm? Shouldn’t there be some limit to playing pranks? Let each child give his or her reply. QUESTION TWO: Does any child still eat spices? Will those who eat them stop doing so? Those of you who have given up spices, do you feel tempted to eat them? If so, why do you feel that way? QUESTION THREE: Does any of you now make noise in the class or the kitchen? Remember that all of you have promised me that you will make no noise. In Karachi it is not so cold as they tried to frighten me by saying it would be. I am writing this letter at 4 o’clock. The post is cleared early. • Multimillion-Selling Singer Crystal Gayle Has Performed Songs from a Wide Variety of Genres During Her Award-Studded Career, B
MultiMillion-selling singer Crystal Gayle has performed songs from a wide variety of genres during her award-studded career, but she has never devoted an album to classic country music. Until now. You Don’t Know Me is a collection that finds the acclaimed stylist exploring the songs of such country legends as George Jones, Patsy Cline, Buck Owens and Eddy Arnold. The album might come as a surprise to those who associate Crystal with an uptown sound that made her a star on both country and adult-contemporary pop charts. But she has known this repertoire of hardcore country standards all her life. “This wasn’t a stretch at all,” says Crystal. “These are songs I grew up singing. I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time. “The songs on this album aren’t songs I sing in my concerts until recently. But they are very much a part of my history.” Each of the selections was chosen because it played a role in her musical development. Two of them point to the importance that her family had in bringing her to fame. You Don’t Know Me contains the first recorded trio vocal performance by Crystal with her singing sisters Loretta Lynn and Peggy Sue. It is their version of Dolly Parton’s “Put It Off Until Tomorrow.” “You Never Were Mine” comes from the pen of her older brother, Jay Lee Webb (1937-1996). The two were always close. Jay Lee was the oldest brother still living with the family when their father passed away.

September 3 2019, Issue 669 Pick Six: Label Draft 2019 Seven years ago, Country Aircheck’s Fantasy Label Draft began as an entertaining forum for radio pros to chat about artists and make bold predictions for the year to come. For the first six seasons, VP/GM Chuck Aly served as commissioner and declared winners based upon a method that is just questionable enough to have come from the New England Patriots’ camp, “Chuck’s Eyeball Test.” But this is 2019, and all bets are off. No participation trophies here! What good is a game without a winner? And how do you declare a winner without a score?
