.------·1 Census of India, 1951 I DISTRICT POPULATION STATISTICS UTTAR PRADESH 22-ALLAHABAD DISTRICT t I 315.42 ALLAHABAD: PluNnNG AND STATIONERY, UTTAR PRADESH, INDIA 1951 1953 ALL CPS Price, Re.1-S. FOREWORD THE Uttar Pradesh Government asked me in March, 1952, to supply them for the purposes of elections to local bodies population statistics with separation for scheduled castes (i) mohalla/ward -wise for urban areas, and (ii) village-wise for rural areas. The Census Tabulation Plan did not provide for sorting of scheduled castes population for areas smaller than a tehsil or urban tract and the request from the Uttar Pradesh Government came when the slip sorting had been finished and the Tabulation Offices closed. As the census slips are mixed up for the purposes of sorting in one lot for a tehsil or urban tract, collection of data regarding scheduled castes population by mohallas/wards and villages would have involved enormous labour and expense if sorting of the slips had been taken up afresh. Fortunately, however, a secondary census record, viz. the National Citizens' Register, in which each slip has been copied, was available. By singular foresight it had been pre pared mohalla/ward-wise for urban areas and village-wise for rural areas. The required information has, therefore, been extracted from this record. 2. In the above circumstances there is a slight difference in the figures of population as arrived at by an earlier sorting of the slips and as now determined by counting from the National Citizens' Register. This difference has been accen tuated by an order passed by me during the later count.

  • Scheduled Caste Occupational Mobility: a Study in Askaranpur Magrohani Village of Sirathu Block in Kaushambi District
Trans.Inst.Indian Geographers ISSN 0970-9851 Scheduled Caste Occupational Mobility: A Study in Askaranpur Magrohani Village of Sirathu Block in Kaushambi District Falak Butool, Lucknow, U.P. Abstract Occupational mobility actually modifies the real labour income and in-turn changes the socio- economic profile of an individual or a family. The occupational mobility may act as a catalyst in case of scheduled caste upliftment because they are subjugated since time immemorial. They are still engaged in low ranked fixed occupations. If they will be able to show upward occupational mobility then their social and economic status will surely be improved. But such studies on occupational mobility of scheduled caste population are meager. Thus in the present work an attempt is made to study occupational mobility and immobility of scheduled caste population. Regional analysis of occupational mobility is necessary for rational planning and legitimate minimization of regional disparities to foster a healthy and balanced development. From the results it is clear that a small proportion of scheduled caste workers shifts from agricultural sector to construction sector and service sector in the second and third generation of the selected area (fig2&3). This shows upward intergenerational occupational mobility among the scheduled caste population of Askaranpur Magrohani village of Sirathu block in Kaushambi District. Keywords: Occupational Mobility, Scheduled Caste Workers, Askaranpur Magrohani Village, Sirathu, Kaushambi Introduction distinctiveness as the centre of social In recent years issues like discrimination purpose. The empirical studies on market especially caste discrimination and social discrimination will give more visibility to exclusion have been discussed extensively research on discrimination.

In 1941 they were published in U. :p. under the title "District Census Statistics" with a separate volume for each district. In the 19S1 census, when the tabulation has been more elaborate than ever in view of the require, ments of the country, the district-wise volume has been expanded into a "District Census Handbook", which now contains the District Census Tables (furnishing data with break ... up for census tracts within the district), the District Index of Non, agricultural Occupations, agricultural statistics from 1901 ... 02 to 19,5°"'51 and other miscellaneous statistics in addition to the usual village populatioll statistics. The village population statistics also are given in an elaborate form giving the divisioh of the population among eight livelihood classes and other details. 2. It may be added here that a separate set of district ... wise volumes giving only population figures of rural areas by villages and of urban areas by wards and mohallas and entitled "District Population Statistics" has already been published. This separate series was necessitated by the urgent requirements of the U. P. Government for elections to local bodies. 3. The number of District Census Handbooks printed so far is twenty ..

College, Allahabad-211001, Uttar Pradesh, India *Corresponding author E-mail:[email protected] Abstract Sarus crane is the only resident breeding crane in India. They prefer open habitat like marsh areas, irrigated paddy fields, grass land and river banks. These areas suit them for foraging, roosting and nesting. These cranes are omnivorous birds, feeding aquatic plants, seeds, roots, tubers, crustaceans, insects, molluscs, fishes, frogs, reptiles and avian eggs. These are not only involved in maintaining the food chain and food web but also providing strength to wetland ecosystem. Ecological and environmental condition of this lake is nicely sup- porting the survival of vulnerable Indian sarus crane, Grus antigone antigone. In general, the population of sarus crane is decreasing at global level but the authors recorded its increasing trends during their exploration from 2011 to 2014 in and around the Alwara lake of Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh (India).
