The Executive Secretary is circulating herewith, for the information of participants in the eighteenth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice, a technical background document to support the mid-term review of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation. 2. The report was prepared by Botanic Gardens Conservation International in association with the Global Partnership for Plant Conservation and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity. An earlier draft of this document was made available for peer-review and comments from six Parties and eight organizations were taken into account in preparing this document. A summary assessment based on this note is contained in a document the note by the Executive Secretary on progress in achieving the targets of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation 2011-2020 (UNEP/CBD/SBSTTA/18/3). 3.
