In the circle she went 4-9 and relied on changing speeds rather than power.

“I don’t think we would have made it as far as we did without A.J. working with our two kids that throw hard. She puts in her innings and does what she does best, which is moving the ball around. I look for her to do a good job whether it’s giving us a full game or part of a game.

At the plate Street slugged a career-high three home runs and 10 RBI and came through in key situations.

“She can put the ball in play and can be a heavy hitter. She’s a clutch hitter - she was able to drive in some runs at some important times and we’re counting on her to do that.”

Providing Poole with another change-of-pace option out of the bullpen is junior Mandi Stophlet.

“This team has probably the best chemistry that I’ve seen going in to a season at this point. We’ve worked on team building, team chemistry and sports psychology to men- tally train ourselves. We have emphasized that a lot more and I think that we’re going to be more mature earlier in the season. We’re going to be more supportive of each other and it’s going to be a lot of fun to watch, from the seniors down to the freshmen. It’s going to take a combination of all of them to make it work.”
