The Hokies first tournament appearance came in 2004, when Tech posted a 4-5-0 #7 Maryland at #2 Virginia, 1 p.m. conference record, while going 11-9-0 overall. The Hokies fell in the first round to fourth- #6 Florida State at #3 North Carolina, 1 p.m. seeded Virginia, 8-0. #5 Wake Forest at #4 Boston College, 1 p.m. • Tech’s best ACC Tournament outcome came in 2008, where the Hokies advanced to the Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 - WakeMed Soccer Park finals where they fell to North Carolina 3-0. In 2009, Tech advanced to the semifinals but Semifinals, 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. on ESPN3 was bounced by Florida State 2-0, after topping Wake Forest 1-0 in overtime.
