May 13, 2021 The Honorable Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House H-232 The Capitol Washington, DC 20515 Speaker Pelosi, In accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance released on May 13, 2021 we urge you to immediately return to normal voting procedures and end mandatory mask requirements in the House of Representatives. CDC guidance states fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask or physically distance in any setting except where required by governmental or workplace mandate. It is time to update our own workplace regulations. Every member of Congress has had the opportunity to be vaccinated, and you have indicated about 75 percent have taken advantage of this opportunity. The United States Congress must serve as a model to show the country we can resume normal life through vaccination. Let’s follow the science and get back to work. Capitol Insurrection at Center of Conservative Movement

Capitol Insurrection At Center Of Conservative Movement: At Least 43 Governors, Senators And Members Of Congress Have Ties To Groups That Planned January 6th Rally And Riots. SUMMARY: On January 6, 2021, a rally in support of overturning the results of the 2020 presidential election “turned deadly” when thousands of people stormed the U.S. Capitol at Donald Trump’s urging. Even Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, who rarely broke with Trump, has explicitly said, “the mob was fed lies. They were provoked by the President and other powerful people.” These “other powerful people” include a vast array of conservative officials and Trump allies who perpetuated false claims of fraud in the 2020 election after enjoying critical support from the groups that fueled the Capitol riot. In fact, at least 43 current Governors or elected federal office holders have direct ties to the groups that helped plan the January 6th rally, along with at least 15 members of Donald Trump’s former administration. The links that these Trump-allied officials have to these groups are: Turning Point Action, an arm of right-wing Turning Point USA, claimed to send “80+ buses full of patriots” to the rally that led to the Capitol riot, claiming the event would be one of the most “consequential” in U.S. history. • The group spent over $1.5 million supporting Trump and his Georgia senate allies who claimed the election was fraudulent and supported efforts to overturn it. • The organization hosted Trump at an event where he claimed Democrats were trying to “rig the election,” which he said would be “the most corrupt election in the history of our country.” • At a Turning Point USA event, Rep.

  • Calling on President Biden

    Calling on President Biden

January 28, 2021 President Joseph R. Biden The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, D.C. 20500 Dear Mr. President: As you begin your new administration pledging to foster unity and defend the truth, we respectfully ask you to reconsider your decision to discontinue the Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance (PLGHA) policy. PLGHA prevents taxpayer-funded global health programs from financing foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that perform, actively promote, or lobby for abortion as a method of family planning. First established in 1984 by the Reagan Administration as the Mexico City Policy, this policy simply requires that foreign NGOs agree, as a condition of receiving federal funding, not to promote, lobby for, or perform abortion as a method of family planning. President Donald Trump reinstated and modernized this policy in 2017, applying it to all global health funds. PLGHA did not reduce the amount of federal funding available for global health and family planning programs by one cent. PLGHA represents common ground: it allows the United States to fund global health without using taxpayer dollars to subsidize the work of groups that perform, promote or lobby for abortion. Abortion is not health care. It is never safe for the child: abortion is a brutal procedure that ends the child’s life through suction, dismemberment or chemical poisoning. In addition, the child’s mother deserves better than the tragic, irreversible consequences of elective abortion. United States foreign assistance should be life-affirming: we can support the health of both women and unborn children by providing essential obstetric care, nutritional aid and other humanitarian assistance to persons in need.

Grijalva The Honorable Paul Gosar United States Congress United States Congress The Honorable Andy Biggs The Honorable David Schweikert United States Congress United States Congress The Honorable Ruben Gallego The Honorable Debbie Lesko United States Congress United States Congress The Honorable Greg Stanton United States Congress Dear Members of the Arizona Congressional Delegation: As Mayors of cities and towns located along the potential Tucson-Phoenix-West Valley Amtrak route, we enthusiastically support Amtrak’s vision to bring passenger rail service to our communities. Frequent and reliable passenger rail service will expand economic opportunities and provide important regional connections between our cities and towns. We further support Amtrak’s reauthorization proposal to create a Corridor Development Program, which will help advance Amtrak’s planning, development and implementation of new corridor routes and improvements to existing routes. By funding this program through Amtrak’s National Network grant, Amtrak can make the initial capital investments necessary to get these new routes up and running. The grant will also cover the operating costs for the first several years, offering new services the ability to grow ridership and generate revenue. Amtrak has made clear its commitment to working in a collaborative manner with state and local partners to grow the national rail network, and we look forward to this partnership. In addition to Amtrak’s National Network grant, we also support increased funding for USDOT competitive grants, which can also support more passenger rail.

    Representative Buddy Carter (R-GA-1)

Representative Buddy Carter (R-GA-1) Earl L. “Buddy” Carter is an experienced businessman, health care professional and faithful public servant. As the owner of Carter’s Pharmacy, Inc., South Georgians have trusted Buddy with their most valuable assets: their health, lives and families for more than thirty years. While running his business, he learned how to balance a budget and create jobs. He also saw firsthand the devastating impacts of government overregulation which drives his commitment to ensuring that the federal government creates policies to empower business instead of increasing burdens on America’s job creators. A committed public servant, Buddy previously served as the Mayor of Pooler, Georgia and in the Georgia General Assembly where he used his business experience to make government more efficient and responsive to the people. As the only pharmacist serving in Congress, Buddy is the co-chair of the Community Pharmacy Caucus and is dedicated to working towards a health care system that provides more choices, less costs and better services. A lifelong resident of the First District, Buddy was born and raised in Port Wentworth, Georgia and is a proud graduate of Young Harris College and the University of Georgia where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
