State/future of web-site Karel Kriz explains the current state and future development of the Commission on Mountain Cartography web-site. ETH-Zürich and University of Vienna will carry their work as webmasters for the coming period. The CMC-member database will be updated and linked through the official web-site. 6. Members reports, possible joint activities - Manfred Buchroithner (D) reports on the 10th High Mountain Remote Sensing Symposia held in Kathmandu this year (2009). It was decided that this should be the last of the successful series of conferences. - Manfred Buchroithner (D) presents three large scale maps that are currently being prepared for print: Lonquimy (Chile), Brenta Gruppe (Italy), Chimboraza (Ecuador) - Karel Kriz (A) reports on the progress and work within the CHIS (Cultural History Information System of the Western Himalayas) – http://athene.geo.univie.ac.at/project/chis/ - Stefan Räber (CH) mentions a new Cotopaxi map, scale 1:40.000, realized and published by cartographer Sandra Greulich: www.climbing-map.com - Geoff Aitken (NZ) presents a series of maps scale 1:60.000 of Wellington and surrounding - Kenneth Filed (GB) invites the Mountain Cartography Commission and its members to participate in a special issue within “The Cartographic Journal” 7. Preview: CMC workshop 2010 7th ICA Mountain Cartography Workshop, Borsa, Romania and CMC workshop 2012 8th ICA Mountain Cartography Workshop, New Zealand Karel Kriz presents on behalf of the Romanian delegation the official invitation of participation for the 7th ICA Mountain Cartography Workshop, Borsa, Romania. For further details see attached pdf. Geoff Aitken and Igor Drecki (both NZ) express their interest in hosting the 8th ICA Mountain Cartography Workshop, New Zealand in September 2012. This workshop should be directly linked to the GeoCarto that will be held end of August in Auckland, New Zealand. Further details and an official bid will be prepared within the coming year.
