Netherlands Passenger List of the Holland America Line 1900-1920 • Open Archives which is a Dutch genealogical website announced they have placed the passenger lists of the Holland-America Line 1900-1920 online. • https://www.openarch.nl/indexen/27/passagierslijsten-holland-amerika-lijn • Type in the name you are researching in the search box. You may not get the actual manifest but a listing of what is on the manifest. • When you click on the manifest a list of passengers names appears. • Click on the name you are searching then a new window appears with the source listed a passenger registers. • The Holland America Line (HAL) transported about one million Eastern Europeans t America from Rotterdam between 1880 and 1920. The HAL had offices in Bulgaria, Latvia and Russia where tickets could be purchased for the train to Rotterdam, the boat to America.

The German Genealogy Facebook Group (not Jewish!) www.facebook.com/groups/GermanGenealogy • The group, classified as a “closed group” that users can ask to be accepted in, is a typical moderated social media thread. Those approved for the group can post relating to German genealogy— sometimes including historical photos and other times “just for fun” items they’ve found in their research. • The group, boasting more than 15,000 members, describes itself as a forum for “networking with those conducting German genealogical research, in order to provide help and resources to others researching German genealogy.”

Where they were murdered in the euthanasia program this is noted. • While all registrants resided in at some time between 1933 and 1942, they were born all over the world, e.g. 3 in San Francisco, 10 in Moscow, 271 in Posen and 9.075 in Berlin. • Peter Landé is happy to try to answer any individual questions that may arise, please first look at the cards themselves, which may be accessed on the Bad Arolsen International Tracing Service website, since the cards often contain additional information such as street address, profession or even school records.

MyHeritage Colourising Photos - www.myheritage.com/incolor • you don’t need to be a subscriber, but you must register. • There is also a limit on the number of photos you can colorize. • If you are not a subscriber, there will be a water mark on the photo. • The quality of the this is dependent on the quality of the original photo. • Over 1 Million photos colourised in the first week!

• BUT – you need to take care of copyright of images and can’t just take everyone’s B&W photo that you find online to colour it! • There may be legal small print giving MyHeritage some legal rights over things that their new facility colourises.

• The Wiener Holocaust Library is hosting a touring exhibition Leave to Land: The Kitchener Camp Rescue, 1939 from Wednesday 25 March-Wednesday 6 May 2020. • The Wiener Library is now the custodian of the Kitchener Camp Project, an online resource of archival records and family treasures. • In 1939 the Kitchener Camp was a derelict army base on the Kent coast in which 4,000 Jewish German and Austrian men were saved from the Holocaust.
