Persian garden is mostly indicative of psychological needs and less measurable with water requirements. Since ancient times, it was an essential part of Iranian life and its architecture and contributed in the presence of large temples and their symbolic strength. Since Sumerians, gardens surrounded the temple and the royal palace. Life in Iran is dependent on water and the water is in fact the main factor of life. Iranians have drawn a tree with running water which is the most favorable views in a dry land. After water, trees play the most important role in the formation of Persian Garden. Ancient Iranians believed in a sacred angel called Aororoza that hurting the plants would made her upset and angry. Much earlier than other nations, Iranian found that creating gardens is the basis for agriculture and achieved the best practices of building gardens since ancient times. 5 In the Islamic era, huge gardens surrounded the palace, and were considered as part of its architecture, so that the garden covered all main aspects of the building symmetrically. The area was divided into rectangular pieces that small streams passed through them. The gardens were built according to the Iranian predecessors and from the first centuries AD, Iranian-style garden goes beyond borders and widens its scope over time. The garden building method in the eastern countries were inspired by Iranian garden building, in Islam, planting trees was good and unnecessary cut them was considered reprehensible and there are many verses and narrations in this case. In Persian garden, special attention is paid to geometric shapes and square which shows the distance between the components simple and clear, was of great importance. At the time of planting a tree, the first step is precise in determining the distance from each side and thus forming squares that looking from each side, rows of trees could be seen. Therefore, the general pattern of most Persian gardens consisted of a rectangular space which is quartered by intersecting streams and pathways. 6 In the gardens, or in other words, discipline is the elements of natural, manmade and put together and how the use of natural elements, and select characteristics of their discipline, how to take advantage of them, and their relation with everyday life of people, play a central role. Some elements of Persian Gardens have been used include: ground, water, plant and space, once the intellectual system of Persian architecture and a framework concept and idea of the garden are together form garden. In this way, other elements may be used in the creation of the gardens, which are minor elements or component parts, and the effects of the main elements of garden. 7 Garden Structure 8 4th CLAT 2019: Taste Paradise In a general classification, considering the somatic features, the following gardens can be mentioned: • Garden located on flat levels: Fin Garden, Kashan and Eram Garden, Shiraz • Garden located on steep levels: Bagh Takht, Shiraz • Aquatic Garden: Ael Goly, Tabriz • House Garden: Historic Houses in Kashan and Yazd 9 4th CLAT: Taste Paradise- Itinerary 10 4th CLAT 2019: Taste Paradise 4th CLAT: Taste Paradise- Opening Meeting 11 4th CLAT 2019: Taste Paradise Places to Visit 1. Iran’s Persian Garden is one of the sites inscribed on UNESCO’s List in 2011. The property includes nine gardens in as many provinces. They exemplify the diversity of Persian garden designs that evolved and adapted to different climate conditions while retaining principles that have their roots in the times of Cyrus the Great, 6th century BC. Always divided into four sectors, with water playing an important role for both irrigation and ornamentation, the Persian garden was conceived to symbolize Eden and the four Zoroastrian elements of sky, earth, water and plants. These gardens, dating back to different periods since the 6th century BC, also feature buildings, pavilions and walls, as well as sophisticated irrigation systems. They have influenced the art of garden design as far as India and Spain. Persian Garden is a well-known garden style in the world. Besides overcoming the environmental restraints, creators of Persian Gardens have also manifested cultures and beliefs of people living in this land in their work; and that’s the reason orientalists have known Persian Garden a symbol of “Promised Paradise”. Persian Garden is in a great harmony with its natural and cultural surroundings and cannot be identified segregated from Iran’s characteristics and peoples’ culture and belief. Cultural Landscape Association (CLA) is planning to organize a specialized tour and workshop called “Taste Paradise” in an international level for the experts, in order to get a better global recognition for Persian Garden and the elite to know it further.

  • Comparative Chemical Composition Analysis of Essential Oils in Different Populations of Damask Rose from Iran
    J. Agr. Sci. Tech. (2019) Vol. 21(2): 423-437 Comparative Chemical Composition Analysis of Essential Oils in Different Populations of Damask Rose from Iran Z. Toluei1* S. A. Hosseini Tafreshi1, and M. Arefi Torkabadi2 ABSTRACT Damask rose (Rosa damascena Mill.), belonging to the Rosaceae family, is a unique species. One of the major and popular growing regions of Damask rose is Kashan and its rose essential oil has unique scent and global reputation. The aim of this study was to compare the variation that naturally exists in quantity and quality of essential oils in different populations and selection of the best population. Unfortunately, there is inadequate information about flower oil yield of different populations of R. damascena from different regions of Kashan. Therefore, flowers of R. damascena Mill. were collected from fifteen important rose oil production regions of Kashan, Iran. The chemical composition of essential oil was analyzed by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. As a result, based on the dendrogram obtained from cluster analysis of chemical component data, fifteen R. damascena populations were grouped into three clusters. A total of fifty-five compounds were identified and quantified by GC–MS analysis in the rose oil. The essential oil contents (w/w) were ranged from 0.0020% to 0.0190% after isolation in Clevenger apparatus. The major components of the oil contained limonene (0.4–12.8%), 2-phenylethyl alcohol (1.0–1.3%), citronellol (16.2– 57.8%), geraniol (0.9–14.1%), methyleugenol (0.5–2.5%), heptadecane (0.8–3.0%), 1- nonadecene (2.1–7.5%), nonadec-9-ene (14.9–30.2%), eicosane (1.0–3.3%), heneicosane (5.8–18.6%), tricosane (0.9–5.2%), and pentacosane (0.3–2.1%).

The relative stability of renewable water Received in revised form 18 October 2020 resources makes it necessary to pay special attention to the conservation and Accepted 19 October 2020 optimal use of these resources, especially in desert areas such as Iran, and this requires careful and principle planning for the optimal use of existing water Keywords: resources. In this research, a descriptive-analytical method was adopted. The data Groundwater were collected from fifteen wells during an 8-year period (2010-2017). The Bahadoran plain Kolmogorov-Smirnov method was recruited to assess the normality of data Geostatistics distribution. Also, since the classical data (water quality data) did not take into Water quality account the spatial distribution of groundwater quality parameters, we used the Hydrochemical software geostatistics for this purpose.
