Christian, President CONFERRING OF DEGREES Donald P. Christian, President PRESENTED BY Donald P. Christian, President Barbara G. Lyman, Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs We are pleased to hold this weekend’s series of smaller, shorter, in-person Commencement ceremonies for our 2019-2020 graduates. These efforts respond to student interest in an in- person experience to mark this milestone in their lives and recognize their hard-earned achievements, especially in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. To hold in-person ceremonies, we regret that we are unable to allow any guests to attend Commencement this year. We will live-stream all ceremonies so that friends and family members can hear their graduate’s name called, watch them cross the stage and receive their diploma cover from the comfort and safety of home. The live streams will remain online and can be viewed on demand for one year after the event. Other health and safety policies, such as masking and social distancing, will be in place throughout all events. We look forward to celebrating our New Paltz graduates and all that they have accomplished in this most challenging time! We recognize and commend our graduates who have worked diligently to overcome the direct and indirect impact of the Coronavirus and continued to persevere during these extraordinary times. Your adaptability and resilience to overcome the adversity that this pandemic has caused in your educational and personal lives will serve you well in life.
