[email protected] w: aiyanabraun.com Aiyana Braun (b. 1997) is a composer and sound artist who seeks to facilitate collaborative, intimate musical spaces in which deeply personal works may be cultivated. Through her work, she hopes to foster sonic environments which address understandings of social systems, identity politics, interpersonal relations, and encourages the unlearning of dominant vernaculars. [email protected] w: aiyanabraun.com Short Bio Aiyana Braun (b. 1997) is a composer and sound artist who seeks to facilitate collaborative, intimate musical spaces in which deeply personal works may be cultivated. Her music has been performed by the New York Philharmonic, Berkeley Symphony, Oxford Alternative Orchestra, Curtis Symphony Orchestra, MusicaNova Orchestra, among others. At the age of fifteen, her first orchestra composition was commissioned by the New York Philharmonic; another work, commissioned by Maya Angelou and Norman Lear, she performed at the Marian Anderson Awards in the Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall to which Maya Angelou expressed Aiyana’s music “touched me deeply.” She has additionally been commissioned by Danny Matsukawa of the Philadelphia Orchestra (Principal Bassoon), Eric Bartlett and Jon Deak of the New York Philharmonic (Cello, and Associate Principal Bass), Andrea Obiso of Orchestra dell’Accademia.
