You can also see exactly how much data is uploaded or downloaded from 6am to Midnight and during the free usage Zone from Midnight to 6am. On the left hand side of the portal page, once you have logged in, you can access the Session Log an d then key in the required dates you wish to analyze. Useful Tip: It is good practice to switch your modem off and on again before checking. Also to refresh your web-browser page. This will then give you actual data used up to the point your last session ends. Is your wireless modem secure? Is your password secure? Excessive unexplained data usage can be attributed to an unauthorised user/s knowing your secure wireless key and passwords and hacking into your account. Useful tip: Ensure that your password is in the format recommended by sure i.e. random use of alpha/numeric characters. Avoid using words, names, birth 9 dates etc. With the rise of social media many of these key facts about you can easily be obtained. Excessive Data Usage Culprits: The wide range of devices and programmes used by customers mean that the possibilities for excessive data (MB) consumption are extensive. Data consumption can be attributed but not limited to some of the factors below i.e. Operati ng System updates i.e. Windows , iOS, Android etc. If not scheduled overnight, or disabled, or if manually triggered. Large Email attachments Email Links - someone may have sent you a link to a YouTube video, music or shared a link to their uploaded photo album, For example. The link is small, but the content can be large. Anti-virus updates 3rd party software updates - these updates are not controlled by the operating system. Store Updates - e.g. iTunes, Android Play Store, Microsoft Store (For Windows) YouTube - streaming video sites consume high MBs Downloads - music/video media and software downloads consume high MBs. Cloud services - OneDrive/SkyDrive, Google Cloud, and Apple iCloud. Skype/Face Time etc. - particularly if using the video facility. Virus/Malware/Trojans - this is a possibility, if your computer is not protected with up-to-date Antivirus software. As part of this trees are being pruned and checked to see if they are healthy. During one of these routine checks it was dis- covered that the Garden’s only banyan tree had become infested with weevils. As weevils only house themselves in already dead trees it had be- come necessary to remove the tree completely to protect both the public and neighbouring trees. ANRD Forestry Offi cer Mira Young told The Sen- tinel “This is part of our annual program, the gar- dens are crown estates and we have responsibility for the trees. The aim is to keep the trees safe for users of the public gardens,” The wood from this tree will be fi rst offered to craftsmen who want to work with the wood. Any wood left over will be used either for fi rewood or chipped and made into a mulch that can be used as a fertiliser. Ray Yon in ‘Tip Top’ Form Green Light for New Prison and Fun Park Cardno Seamount in wrong place on charts The RRS Discovery followed the official navigations charts to get to Cardno seamount only to find it was somewhere else. As they prepared to lower survey equipment into what was supposed to be 200 metres of water they found there was still 2,800 metres of water beneath the vessel. The crew on the RRS Discovery had to reschedule their planned work as they spent more than 24 hours re-mapping the seamount. The true position is further north and east and the seamount itself is smaller than shown on existing charts. Fishing in mid-water depths, some “amazing” fish, squid and octopus were caught. One is called the sabre tooth fish, another, the dragon fish has its own flashing light which it uses to attract prey or scare way predators. An octopus caught during the mid-water survey is so unusual it could not immediately be identified. The Latin name for this unusual squid is Stigmata Teuthis arcuturi The RRS Discovery is also surveying the Southern Cross seamount and will deploy acoustic receivers to record tagged tuna and whale sharks which come within range. Also on the survey list is cold water or deep sea coral reefs.

The consultation, which ran from 9 April 2009 to 31 July 2009, concerned whether an airport is the most appropriate option for access to St Helena in the current economic climate. It was carried out in accordance with the criteria of the Government’s Code of Practice on Consultation. 2. The Government retendered the contract to design, build and operate an airport for the island in May 2007. Since then the financial climate has changed. The cost of the airport is considerably higher than anticipated, economic conditions in the UK demand review of short term spending priorities; and the value of the international development budget (from which financial support to the Overseas Territories is funded) has dropped in many countries, while urgent new pressures for aid have arisen.
