COACHING VETERAN RYENN MICALETTI BOLSTERS STAFF • Ryenn Micaletti joined the Longwood coaching staff in the fall of 2020 to reunite with head coach Rebecca Tillett for a third time in her coaching career. • Micaletti spent her previous four seasons at Navy, during which the program both tied and broke the re- cord for wins in a season, made multiple appearances in the finals of the conference tournament and also made multiple postseason appearances, including a win in the WNIT. • In 2016-17, Micaletti’s first year on the Navy staff, the Mids went 24-10 to tie a program record for wins (which was broken the following season). In addition, the team advanced to the finals of the conference tour- nament and earned a trip to the WNIT before knocking off George Washington in the first round for the pro- gram’s first national postseason tournament victory. • In 2017-18, the team set the record for wins with a 25- win campaign that culminated with a trip to the finals in the conference tournament and a second straight trip to the WNIT. • Micaletti spent two seasons at Slippery Rock and helped bring the program back to life, helping lead Slippery Rock win 24 games over the two-year span after winning only 25 in the previous 131 games, and Micaletti helped the squad qualify for a playoff spot for the first time in 10 seasons. • She and Tillett first worked on staff together as assis- tants at Indiana University Pennsylvania in 2013-14 to help IUP compile an 18-10 record. • Micaletti started her collegiate coaching career as an assistant at Point Park University for two years, helping the Pioneers make back-to-back trips to the NAIA Di- vision II National Tournament while setting records for wins in both seasons. In 2012-13, the Pioneers went 25-7 to break the school record for wins. The team qualified for the national tournamnet after winning the regular season and tournament crown in the Kentucky Intercolliegate Athletic Conference. In 2011-12 Point Park went 23-7 to set a record for wins while winning the American Mid-East Conference regular season and tournamnet title to earn the team’s first birth in the national tournament

Game 5: Longwood vs. Radford • December 15, 2020 • Farmville, Va. (Willett Hall) LONGWOOD GAMEDAY > The Joan Perry Brock Center The Joan Perry Brock Center: Longwood Basketball’s New Home Thanks to a $15 million gift from philanthro- pist Joan Brock ‘64, Longwood announced plans to build a new university convocation center that includes the new home of Longwood men’s and women’s basketball. The Joan Perry Brock Center will be located along Brock Commons near Willett Hall, the current home of the Lancers, with a pro- jected opening by the spring of 2022. Brock’s $15 million gift is the largest in history for Longwood University and ushers both Long- wood basketball programs into the next phase of their Division I growth while also spearheading the construction of a venue with immeasurable po- tential for the university and Farmville community. The facility will be designed in Longwood’s tradi- tional architectural style and will serve as a host for speakers, concerts and shows in addition to Longwood basketball games. Design schemes for the Joan Perry Brock Cen- ter show a planned basketball capacity of 2,500 to 3,000 seats, increasing the Lancers’ current capac- ity of 1,807 in Willett Hall but purposefully main- taining the intimate feel and energy of Longwood’s current home. “The Joan Perry Brock Center will be a jew- giving to Longwood is certainly the ‘Brock Way,’ “Willett Hall has been a fantastic home to our el in the crown of Brock Commons, and it means and our program will be forever grateful.” basketball programs for four decades now, and the world that Longwood students will walking to The news follows a breakthrough 2018-19 there is a palpable history within its walls,” Mead- these great university events, concerts and basket- season for the Longwood men’s program under ows said. “It will continue to serve as our bas- ball games right in the very heart of campus,” said Aldrich, during which the Lancers won the sec- ketball home for the next several years while the President W. That breakthrough produced 12 wins, which was a nine- win improvement from the year prior and the second dou- ble-digit win season of the program’s Big South era. Long- wood’s nine-win turnaround was the 13th-best in the nation and the fifth-best by a second-year head coach that season and earned Tillett Longwood University’s prestigious SAAC Coach of the Year honor, which is awarded annually by Long- wood’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee to the coach who goes above and beyond to contribute to the growth and success of his or her student-athletes. Leading Longwood’s breakthrough on the court in 2019- 20 were Big South Freshman of the Year and All-Big South first-team guard Kyla McMakin, who emerged as the jewel of Tillett’s first full recruiting class at Longwood, and senior forward Dayna Rouse, who flourished in her two years un- der Tillett’s leadership. Those two spearheaded a Longwood offense that averaged 67.9 points per game – second most in the Big South – and led the league in both field goal per- centage and free throw percentage. The Lancers ranked 10th in the nation with 5.8 blocks per game and saw two players – McMakin and fellow newcomer Tra’Dayja Smith – finish among the NCAA’s top 10 statistical leaders in multiple cat- egories.
