LTFRB opens 200 slots for taxi units in Baguio AGUIO CITY – The Land Transportation Fran- Bchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) recently approved the opening of some two hundred slots for taxi units in the city to help provide convenience to residents and tourists alike who want to move around the city. LTFRB chairman Martin Delgra said that the available taxi units will be offered to transport coop- eratives that have already consolidated pursuant to established rules and regulations that were crafted for the purpose considering that the franchises that will be issued will be on a fleet management scheme. He explained that a maximum of 50 units will comprise one fleet that is why the grant of the fran- chises to the newly opened taxi units will be granted to registered transport cooperatives that were able to avail of the consolidation. “We were able to receive a number of applications from local transport cooperatives that were able to con- solidate and we are currently evaluating the said appli- cations before granting the franchises to the approved THE OUTGOING AND THE INCOMING FATHER OF THE CITY – Incoming Mayor units of taxis in the city,” Delgra stressed. Talabis said the agency is also working to digitize the processing of public land application, verification and approval of survey plans and access to land information in order to minimize physical presence in LMB offices nationwide. LMB also targets the full implementation of the Inspection, Verification and Approval of Surveys (IVAS) under LAMS. He mentioned that IVAS would allow clients through accredited geodetic engineers to submit e-survey returns online instead of going to LMB regional offices. Likewise, the system allows geodetic engineers to access and download survey records, including textual and scanned documents of land information subject to LAMS policy on digital land data sharing and security measures but excluding confidential records. LMB plans to provide the public online access to spatial data with plotting feature overlaid on satellite imagery or Google Earth, including adjoining lots, if available.

Toledo City’s Public Information Office (PIO) on Friday, August 21, announced that the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) through Secretary Roy Cimatu already gave clearance for the multi-million reclamation project to proceed. “Iyang nakita nga walay rason nga dili kini ipadayon kay ang tanan pinasikad sa balaod ang pagpangandam sa lokal nga pangagamhanan,” portions of the statement read. (Cimatu saw that there were no reasons to delay project implementation since project preparations were made in accordance with the law and existing regulations.) The PIO also said that Cimatu, city officials, and representatives of Toledo City’s Environmental and Natural Resources Office, and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), inspected the site for the proposed reclamation project on Friday. Local officials in Toledo City, a third-class city that is located approximately 47 kilometers southwest of Cebu City, have been planning to proceed with the 11-hectare reclamation site off the coasts in Barangay Poblacion.
