The M-1-4 was built on a 113 inch wheelbase, early trucks had the 214 cubic inch Green Diamond engine, later trucks had the 233 cubic inch Green Dia- mond engine. The gear boxes were a Warner 4 speed, and on early trucks a Timken single-speed transfer case while later trucks had the 2 speed Timken transfer case. The M-1-4 had Eaton cast iron axle housings with drop out third members and a 4.875 to 1 gear ratio. Many believe the Internationals to be superior in many ways to the Dodge WC and the GMC CCKW.

    MSc. Thesis Classic Cars: A New Alternative Investment Vehicle? Date: 21-09-2017 Student: Dries Laurs ANR: 747398 Supervisor: prof. dr. Luc Renneboog Second reader: dr. C.A.R. Schneider Abstract This thesis investigates the price determinants and investment performance of classic cars. We investigate a sample of over 29,000 classic car auction sales conducted between January 1998 and July 2017. A hedonic regression methodology is used in order to construct several constant-quality classic car price indices. Based on these indices, we estimate that classic cars appreciated in value by around 3.37 % and 5.63 % annually, respectively in real and in nominal terms. Compared to other asset classes, return performance has been strong. Over the period covered, only gold outperformed classic cars. When we incorporate dividend yields into equity returns, we find that equities as an asset class slightly outperform classic cars. On a risk-adjusted basis, the performance is similar, with both asset classes showing Sharpe ratios of around 0.30. Comparing the risk-adjusted performance of classic cars to other asset classes, we find that gold and government bonds outperformed classic cars, as measured by their larger Sharpe ratios. We find that classic car investments partially hedge against inflation. Accounting for non-synchroneity in the returns between classic cars and equity markets, we find a much stronger relationship between the two than initially expected. This shows that wealth effects are important drivers of classic car returns. October 29, 2006, Auburn Hills, Mich./Stuttgart, Germany - At first, Willys-Overland and American Bantam Car Manufacturing Company were the only two companies answering the call. Soon, however, Ford Motor Company entered the picture, and competition began among the three over which company would receive the lucrative government contract. Each company produced prototypes for testing in record time. Bantam’s chief engineer, along with a team of Bantam executives, worked out a design, and the company built its field car within 49 days. Willys-Overland Vice President of Engineering Delmar G. Roos designed the Willys Quad. Ford developped its Model GP (General Purpose), known as the Pygmy, which was powered by an adapted Ford/Ferguson tractor. Each company delivered its prototype to the Army in the summer of 1940 and received approval to build 70 sample vehicles. The Army took possession of these vehicles in November 1940 at Camp Holabird, Maryland (USA). Each of the three designs exceeded the Army’s specification of 590kg (1300 lb.), but the Army soon realised that limit was far too low and raised it for the next round of vehicles. The Army issued the next round of contracts in March of 1941.
